I've tried MF towels to dry my car but, I don't know about them. They don't really soak up water like the chamois does. They also seem to leave streaks.

Is this how they're supposed to be?
What's the benefit again?

From my limited knowledge about these things is that the MF towel if used correctly is less likely to create micro-scratches on the paint because it picks up the particles of dirt. Whereas the chammy just drags them along.......
That’s my opinion, someone care to correct me or help me out?

You need to use the Waffle-Weave MF for drying not the plush terry ones. Once you use a Waffle-Weave MF I guarentee you won't use any thing else. No scratching and no streaking and you can do the whole car (almost 2 cars) without ringing the towel out in fact you really can't ring them out because they hold the water so well. You have to let them air dry.

I agree with RacermeX. Not sold on the of MF (but handy to keep in the car for spillage...)

As rmn has said, use the waffle weave for drying. The general consensus seems to be that Pak-Shak makes the best ww towels.

also see the How To Dry article David wrote. The nozzle-less hose thing really helps in the drying step as most of the water sheets off before you even break out the waffle weave. I can do 2-3 cars w/ 1 WW this way.

RMN is right you need to use waffle weave, regular MF are for detailing jobs, I use mine to remove wax, wipe 303 on with, clean windows, etc, but for drying look at this link, this one towel does a whole car no streaks. http://www.autogeek.net/xlarcobwafwe.html

Sure, I'll give the Waffle Weave a try.

i'm going to try the micro fibre when winter lets up(the microfiber works greatfor cleaning up dust and thigns inside the car), but i've grown up on the chamois myself. i was amazed by the tip in the forums to jsut take the nozzle off the end of the hose and pour the water on from top to bottom without spraying, that simple change makes things so much easier.

FYI, there's a Group Buy going on for these WWMF towels (http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=164376).

If you like a chamois over an MF for drying, you've simply been using crappy MFs. There is no comparison to the absorption and softness of a quality MF towel. use pakshak's or JTinternational. Both sell a waffle weave and regular large MFs. They cut my drying time down to 10 minutes.....and not a streak to be seen!
