I just got of the phone with my friend cop and he uses only X and K. He doesn't know about KA but just to answer your question, as to state troopers, laser is what they use now. themadhatter 01-06-2004, 06:37 PM Originally posted by Dan state troopers really don't use any anymore. Unlike radar, laser doesn't have much reflected radiation to alert the cars behind. Once your laser detector goes off, you might as well pull over and wait for your ticket because the cop is already writing it up. themadhatter 01-07-2004, 04:32 PM basically. ducky 01-08-2004, 12:00 AM They ALL use laser? I've been hit w/ K mostly coming from NJ staties. themadhatter 01-08-2004, 02:56 AM most have laser, those being the troopers that are running highway duty that is. I have a buddy who is a State Trooper, I'll ask him what he's using. -Ron vfib30 01-15-2004, 11:56 AM I heard on the news over the summer that NJ troopers have gotten Laser guns donated to them, so they have both. Note: The best radar/laser detectors are.............................The drivers in front of you. Keep your eyes out for break lights. The majority of drivers slam on their breaks as soon as they see cops. even if they are not speeding. Its a knee-jerk (pedal slam)reflex. At the high speeds we run, radar/laser detectors will only detect when you are going to get a ticket! If you want to rip it open for a bit, let pople get down the road in front of you, if no one slams the breaks, most likely there are no cops, and you can take off. But slow it down before you reach them. You wont have enough time to slow down if you are too close to them, and they slam their breaks at that point. I hope that makes sense. lol. By seeing the sensor or by having something come up on his laser gun? rcr2880 01-22-2004, 11:32 PM Well they can see it if there behind you, and if you get pulled over and it starts going off or is still visible, yea expect to be penalized the full amount, because they'll mention to the prosecutor and the judge vfib30 01-23-2004, 02:44 PM Originally posted by rcr2880 Well they can see it if there behind you, and if you get pulled over and it starts going off or is still visible, yea expect to be penalized the full amount, because they'll mention to the prosecutor and the judge Interesting. Im currently reading " A speeders guide to avoiding tickets" by retired NYS trooper James M. Eagan. Its pretty good so far and recommend it. |
