Preppy 12-31-2003, 09:48 PM Such a nice design, although the C5's front end seems to flow better :az:
Steve@Edge 12-31-2003, 09:53 PM HOLY CRAP! That was one of the best car commercials I've ever seen.
The new C6 looks absoluetely hot. I can't wait to see one of the road. Glad they got rid of the flip-up head lights, those never jived with me.
Dig the SS (I wanna say Camaro?) at the end... don't know what the biplane is all about. Probably they figured they were going to throw as much cool shit as possible into a commercial. Should have had a space shuttle and firetruck too... that would have been a childhood fantasy of mine.
I popped at least 9 boners watching that clip.
Thanks a ton magnetic!
Steve
Mikey52 01-01-2004, 03:18 PM That thing at the end is the SSR truck. It looks pretty cool but I think they "Prowler'ed" it. Nice lines but underpowered and AUTOMATIC!
That C6 looks pretty nice although it doesnt look like they changed the rear much at all.

No, I know what the SSR is. I'm talking about the classic vert that pulls up along side the car carrier at the end.
Steve
John V 01-01-2004, 06:33 PM The new C6 looks awesome. I wouldn't change a thing. It'll probably be my next car.
Too bad GM doesn't make anything else worth even considering.

l3it3r 01-01-2004, 09:45 PM hell yeah, CTS-V.. now that's a bad ass car..
I LOVE the headlights on the C6.. i love the sanded/painted look.
The SSR is hideous IMO and yeah, I love the SS vert at the end after the SSR is on the truck.. great classic.
jsp98m3 01-01-2004, 09:59 PM If we all pray together, really, really hard....
Maybe they will shop someplace better than KMart for the interior.
Other than that, I want one BAAAAAAAAAAAAD!
l3it3r 01-01-2004, 10:51 PM Oh don't you worry.. the interior is not too shabby this time around.. I know what you mean though.. my brother's vette is too GM-ish.. not really that great inside.

Damn I want this car!

GreekM3 01-02-2004, 09:43 AM I saw the commercial, pretty cool. The new C6 looks pretty nice, no doubt I would trade my M3 in for one :). As for the "cheap" Vette interior, I already think my M3's interior is complete crap, so the Vette can't be much worse! BTW-the hippies in the classic muscle car in the end pissed me off to no end.
I saw that SSR truck on the road the other day-looks like shit. Car companies need to stop playing off peoples f-ing nostalga (sp?) and make some NEW cars! And at least if they are going to re-do the car please do it right-look at the Impala and malibu :(
Cars over the past 5 years that have been re-realesed:
Mini Cooper, Malibu, beetle, thunderbird, GTO, and probably more that I'm forgetting.
I hate retro.
NoSoup4U 01-02-2004, 10:06 AM I saw that the new GTO is going to be 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. Pretty damn impressive. The C6 is definitely a looker. I wonder what they are going to be priced at. I also wonder what the Z06/C6 version will cost. It will definitely have my attention ... problem is, I HATE and LOATHE dealing with Chevy dealerships in the area.
vjlax18 01-02-2004, 10:52 AM Considering my interior has more squeaks and rattles then my wife's car, and her seats are a whole lot more comfy, I'd say the interior of the C5 isn't that bad. People bitch about the knobs on the climate control... so how about the knobs on the 92-95 E36... you know, the ones that people want on their 96-99 E36s?
People just hating cause they have to get F/I to keep up with them, and I mean keep up.

thank you! I can't imagine an interior being too much crappier then the E36 interior IMHO, not to mention the stereo! The stock nokia speakers blow BIG TIME. I have never heard a worse stock stereo.
magnetic1 01-02-2004, 11:25 AM Most people make comments about the C5/C6 interior without ever even sitting in one... they jus thave this generalization about GM interiors, which for the mostpart is true, but Corvette has its own engineering and design teams...
The new C6 will have all cast skin surfaces (like leather) with aluminum accents... no to mention the seats are soft and comfy, yet supportive...
Preppy 01-02-2004, 11:37 AM The new GTO looks so hot. Saw one driving through Georgetown earlier last month. Red. I showed signs of drool.
Yeah man, the new C6 is AWESOME. With the open lights it kind of reminds me of the 360 or a Maranello-similar look and feel to it.
There have been some really domestic great cars coming out like the new Mustang, the GTO and now the C6. Like 10 years ago, there wouldn't have been anything to really drool over from American manufacturers. Now there are some really hot cars coming from our side of the pond.
You know what would be really cool? If Buick somehow managed to revive the Grand National GNX!!!!
NoSoup4U 01-02-2004, 11:53 AM You've guys have probably seen this ... but, if you have not, here you go. A pretty good description spec-wise and also additional pictures. The interior to me, looks pretty impressive.

Hrmm, I wondered why my Suzuki Aerio rental car had such an awesome stereo...
markr325is 01-02-2004, 07:22 PM I like the "old" C5 better.
Anyone know how the C6 is better or more advanced than the C5?
You could make the interior as ugly as possible.........like a Pontiac's even, I'd still take one.
Nick MD 01-02-2004, 08:02 PM I want one... the first American car in a long time that has made me think that.
l3it3r 01-03-2004, 09:42 AM Jed said exactly what I was thinking.. Some where in the past 2-3 years, the development teams here in the US have pulled their heads out of their asses, and started designing some of the coolest cars I've seen in a long time.
The C6, the Ford GT, the new Mustang, the SRT series(of course I'd say that :D) and a few others.. as for the GTO.. i'm not really that impressed with it. IT's not like it just popped up out of nowhere, it was built in Australia. The GTO is based on this: http://www.vxss.com/
magnetic1 01-03-2004, 12:12 PM Mark... the C6 w/ Z51 package is supposed to be right on the tail of the current Z06.. and on RUN FLAT tires nonetheless...
If u guys get a chance to pickup this week's AutoWeek, it goes into pretty good detail on the differences between the C5 and C6... everything under the car has changed except for the balsa wood/composite flooroards...

No way. Heavy, and uglier than all Bangle's efforts put together. YUCH! I wouldn't care if it had a 747 jet engine crammed in there. :D
Now, the C6 Z06 might just be the first American car I buy (out of 11 cars so far.) The performance of the Corvette has been there for years. But now is the first time the rest of the package has gotten civilized enough for me to consider it.
Cheers,
Ken

On a related note, where the fuck have you been? :stickoutt
kenkamm 01-05-2004, 02:30 PM Hey Nick. Hehe. Guess I've been off the computer a lot lately... with the Christmas season and all... haven't been surfing the boards as much. I go through phases. :D

you and j-vizzle can fight over which one of you gets to pimp the yellow one....
John V 01-07-2004, 09:20 AM Come on Rob, I've set the precedent here with yellow cars. Ken'll just go lease a silver one. :D
Yeah, the CTS-V is a pig. Just like the new Audi S4. I'm sure it's a badass car, but should an Audi A4 weigh 4000lb? They should make a club sport version - cloth seats, only two airbags, etc... drop the weight down a bit.
I stand by my comment that the vette is the only current GM vehicle I'd consider owning :D
dave is cool 01-08-2004, 03:35 AM The C6 looks really nice, along with the 2005 Mustang.
TransHuman 01-08-2004, 02:39 PM Can you say group buy? I can say it...especially when the Z06 version comes out.
