Ok... I went to go get a set of new front tires installed today :buttrock. I took the car to the tire place and to a place that has mounted and balanced all my other tires as well as numerous other large rim tires without a problem. Last time they complained that the tires gave them a hard time because they were a low profile but eventually they managed to change out two tires in about an hour... it was just hard.
Well... today I went to go get two front tires installed and one hour into the project and three helping hands later, we realized that the tire was not coming off the rim :95 . No way, no how. It wasn't happening. The tire bead wouldn't seperate from the rim. It was as if the tire had melted to the rim and the tire was now part of the rim :( . I was like WTF?!?
Now mind you, these guys have the best tire equipment that is available. And between two of them and one of me... we still couldn't get the tire off the rim. (I was mostly there for support... I had no clue what they were doing). All I know was these two guys were fighting with the tire and the tire was winning.
About an hour into the project... we figured the tire wasn't going to give up via natural means. So they turned to alternative tools... the air tools come out and I see a saw bit fitted. The saw tools vigerously tore away at the tire shredding it into chunks of burnt rubber. It wasn't coming off the old fashion way so they had to cut the tire off the rim. Thank god they knew what they were doing, but wow... I've never seen a tire that resistant to come off a rim. Tomorrow I have to go back and they are going to change off the second front tire (they only did one tonight because the 20 minute job turned into a 3 hour job).
Anybody else had this problem? For the record, these were Bridgestone S03s 245/35/19.:help
