View Full Version : HI Members: BMWCCA Meetings
IslandS62 12-23-2003, 03:56 PM As some of you may know, in January I will be replacing Beastmaster as the President of the Hawaii Chapter of the BMWCCA.
Simple question: What will attract you guys to attend the monthly meetings? You do not need to be a member to attend.
I am open to any and all suggestions. Change in venue? Change in the day? Particular event, like a smalll "show and shine"?
Let me know what YOU need to want to be a part of the CCA:D
Currently we meet on the first Tuesday evening of the month at Ka'kaako Kitchen @ 6:30pm. Personally, I would like us to be able to gather in a common parking area to be able to view the cars (we are a CAR club after all) and that may mean finding a new place to gather. I am also not to adverse to changing the day.
Perhaps a monthly or quarterly club beach/park BBQ?
Anyway...suggestions?! :help
MauiM3Mania 12-24-2003, 02:22 PM Maui would be a nice change of venue. :dunno
Scott
thrlls 12-24-2003, 11:19 PM DITTO!
MauiM3Mania 12-24-2003, 11:29 PM Think John is making flight arrangements to Maui for all you outer island members? :biglaughb
thrlls 12-25-2003, 02:30 PM Well, like the saying goes. "Here today, gone to Maui" of course I probably won't be able to make even if a decision is made to go there. :(
MauiM3Mania 12-25-2003, 02:34 PM Howcum, Thrlls? Work schedule?
thrlls 12-26-2003, 12:54 AM Yup!
Our whse will be moving at the end of January, and there is a lot of planning that needs to be done. Then once we move, there will be a period of re-adjusting and re-binning of parts. We're moving something like 60,000 car parts and each part needs a home at the new location.
I even had to cancel my reservations for the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix next year because of this move. Oh well, that's work!
ZZZING 12-26-2003, 02:25 AM I like the idea of meeting somewhere we can check out each other's cars. Nothing pops to mind, I'll have to think some more on a good central location where we can meet.
thrlls 12-26-2003, 11:53 AM Maybe we could ask Voytek if we could meet at his place?
IslandS62 12-30-2003, 04:59 PM Still working on a new location...hard to get food to Voytek's...but it might be do-able.
Thrlls: I just sent JB a greeting and short bio to the club for the next newsletter...if not too much trouble, if you could send him a few words, that would be great too.
Beastmaster: If you want to send in something as outgoing pres. that would be welcome too of course!
I also thinking of doing some road-test comparison articles for future issues...i.e. S52 vs. S54 M Roadster/Coupe or E36 vs. E30 M3, or even Audi 3.0 vs. 330i....obviously because I know where to get half these cars :D Let me know what ou guys think and if you want to participate...
Also did an article on the exhaust installation and working on some detailing articles...
I also noticed that the Hawaii BMWCCA page got updated in the past day, thanks go out to Beastmaster for that!!
The Beastmaster 12-30-2003, 06:09 PM I updated it last week.
As for articles, I sent them to JB a few weeks ago. The next newsletter is due tomorrow.
IslandS62 12-30-2003, 06:14 PM Since tommorrow is your last day as President, sorry to break you the bad news that you will NOT be seeing a new newsletter before your term is up. Our Newsletter editor has the flu and is packing up to go camping.
thrlls 12-31-2003, 02:18 AM So thats why I haven't gone camping in a while, I need to get the flu first!
Is52, when will the newsletter come out?
If it is coming out soon, I won't be sending anything in, if it's next month then I'll send JB something.
Send me his email.
IslandS62 12-31-2003, 03:14 AM Our newsletter editor will be away at camp for a few days, so if you have some time off at New Years you might try to just bang a little something out. No need for it to be long :)
thrlls 12-31-2003, 03:25 AM Long?
Me? Nah....
The Beastmaster 12-31-2003, 03:45 AM Yeah, like the letter to Satch.

That would be an M5. Since you only have a M Roadster, looks like you'll have to work a little harder and get the M5!
thrlls 01-01-2004, 05:12 AM Just 4 more to go!

Let's see we have all those cars available among our members. Maybe we can get Owen to do the testing and can even get cars from the dealer. Let's see, the new 6er is coming out and the new 5er and X3 are out already.
Another idea for the newsletter would be a member profile.

Sounds like a day of Thrills to me!
Gene V 01-03-2004, 11:53 PM I volunteer to test the new M6 when it gets here...
thrlls 01-04-2004, 12:08 AM I'll test the original Z8, but if only the Alpina is available, I guess I can give of my time to test drive that one :D
IslandS62 01-04-2004, 03:10 AM Well, something to think about then ;)
I don't know about Owen doing the testing though:confused:
I am just thinking about driving impressions not full on track testing.
The Beastmaster 01-04-2004, 03:32 AM Don't forget the incoming Pres pops for the food and drinks at the first meeting! Just kidding!
IslandS62 02-01-2004, 02:35 AM Don't forget the monthly meeting this Tuesday night guys. I want to see a better turn out than last month!!!
Tuesday @ 6:30pm Kakaako Kitchen/Ward Center
We will be discussing the possibilty of a german car show with the Porsche and Mercedes club of Hawaii, and possibly a new resturant to hold meetings at...possible detailing/dent removal session, a DIY session and a first quarter driving event also need to be discussed.
See you then!
thrlls 02-01-2004, 03:00 AM As usual, I'll be working till 7 PM or 8 PM so you can count me out.
Sorry I could not get the times/rates for the Go Karting event we talked about at the last meeting. If I remember, and have the time I'll try calling on Monday. I'm all for a German car get together, not to sure about a show though. No time to clean the car.
