I live in NY

Im about to put my car up for winter. What wax and steps should i do before i put the cover on.

I know i have to wash and dry clean everything in and out. The car has been detailed by bmw once. Do i have to strip the wax that is cuyrrently off??

The car is a 03 black m3. I just didnt know what i need to do so i can take it out in the spring looking good. I just washed it last night and i want to go buy some stuff tomorrow to put her away.

I read some of the posts and see that there is a bunch of things that i can do. It doesnt have any swirls at all. I use a leaf blower(which is new)to dry the car to prevent swirls. But i dont have any good routine in what brands, products to use.

well, it doesn't sound like you detail your car regularly so you probably wouldn't want to order expenisve stuff online. i would go with Meguire's if i were you because they make pretty good products for the average guy. search the other forums for tips on how to properly wax and polish. (clay, clean, polish, wax, etc.) there are about a thousand threads on how to do this stuff.

If you're not into the detailing "zen" then there's one product I'd recommend: Klasse All In One. I bought a new sapphire black 530i back in June and had a clean slate to work with. The AIO will do a great job of polishing and protecting your car with a minimal amount of effort. Protection should last about 6 months.

Others on the board are big into multiple coats of multiple products but if you're not into all that, the AIO is the easiest to apply with the longest protection for the investment in time and money. That's what I call VALUE.

Get it from our good sponsor at Autogeek.

My recommendation.

If your car is going into storage then there is no need to do a full exterior detail. What's the point? Is it gonna look good for the garage walls?? Just wax it and let it sit until spring.

Once spring comes then do a full extrerior detail. If you don't want to get fancy and buy stuff online then do the following:

Go to pep boys and pick up a clay magic clay bar.

Go to your local harley dealer and buy some s100 shine enhancing cleanser (SEC) and some s100 wax. The SEC is similar to Klasse AIO. It will clean your paint readying it for a coat of wax.

Then:

Wash
Clay
SEC
Wax

All of this can be done by hand. If you want good towles but don't want to buy online, just go to Macy's or bloomingdales and pick up some charisma cotton hand towels.

Also, please read the "Detaililing 101" thread at the top of this forum. In it you will find a FAQ, buying guide, and 'how to' articles that cover most aspects of exterior detailing.
