Looks good, I may have to fly over and combine a visit with my son and rent something and join you. Oahu runs tomorrow, I see Curtis came over to help (and drive!).

Geez, Scott, the MINI guy beat you on the post. http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpBB_14&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=20606&8

Anyway, congrats in finally getting into the track on Maui and thanks for the great pics.

Hey kids....

Not sure how they did it, but the organizers are moving fast and it's coming together nicely.

A ten event schedule began on 12/7. Close to thrity cars participated. A month earlier, I was there with others to help clean up and do a few practice runs. There were only eleven cars, indicating that the interest is growing quickly... and so far, mostly word of mouth.

I have a feeling that many people have little experience with auto-x, but are getting interested big time. Cars are being built as we speak. Hint: Chris P.'s race car is but a shell..... and his driveway has something different sitting in it. :buttrock

To clarify a few points made in that thread you linked us to BM, there is no event today. Chris sold his 6 six months ago. The red Mini (1977?) did not participate.... it's owned by Bruno, the cart guy.

I've not seen Bob H. out there... the two silver Mini-S's are owned by two guys that are looking for speed and not holding back. Chris drove bothfor the owners.

The fast time of the day was the white Honda. All 1800 lbs of it with driver.

The surface is interesting.... on the rough side.

Next event is 1/11... after that, it's the first Sunday of every month, besides a couple 'byes' during the summer.

Teruko and I just photographed (over 600 hundred exposures in three hours) on the 7th... probably will have the M3 out there next month!

Actually, todays event is the Oahu autox, but Barry mentioned the Maui stuff.

Chris sold his 6er? I wish I had known that. Didn't he have 2 of them?

Congrats on the growing success of Maui AutoX!

Do I hear BMWCCA field trip to Maui? Great pics as always Scott!

Sorry I never got a chance to get back to you about the A500 prints. It kinda slipped my mind.

That bright yellow E30 M3 is...um...bright.

Bryan,

I think Chris has ad more BMWs than there are on Maui. I know he's had a handful of 5ers. That is his preferred platform it seems.

Interesting to me... a 20 year old 5 has a shorter wheelbase than the current 3 series.

John, no worries.. I have the files if you ever want something. I made a 10x15 test print of your 'sig' image..... looks excellent. If it were my car, I'd have a 20x30 hanging. :12:

Scott <- 500' above downtown Kona for the holidays

You are correct! I used to have a '82 528e many years ago and that car seems to have the same amount of leg room as the E46 4 door. The only difference is that the E28 was a little wider.

I'm responding to a thread that should be in the Hawaii Islands Forum.. can a moderator move this (and a load of others) thread which pertains to the islands, not the Northwest? Mahalo!

.................................................. .................................

Another kick butt Maui SCCA Sunday happened on the 25th.

Over thirty cars participated, see the variety of cars and results at http://www.mauiscca.org and click on RESULTS.

Again, BMW Maui sponsored lunch for all. Can you say Chateaubriand? Chateaubriand roast is carved from the center of the beef tenderloin and is the most impressive of all roasts. Yes, that was our lunch, backed up by grilled chicken, keibalsa, cheeses, etc... THANK YOU BMW MAUI!

A fellow motorsports enthusiast, Richard Blue, showed up and added to Teruko's and my photography. Below is a tease of the photos which will be online soon.

If you're on Maui... drop by the motorsports park on August 29. -Scott
