Is there any chemical we can use to get all the crap out of the tap water so we can just let the car dry up by itself and not use a regular stuff to dry it up? I am trying to eliminate water spots when I am lazy and just want to soap it and leave it to dry without touching the car. Any comments are appreciated.

I just purchased the new Mr. Clean AutoDry (http://www.homemadesimple.com/mrcleanautodry/) and I must say the car dries with no spots like it is suppose to....... However they say you have to use their wash because it is part of a system so it won't spot and that the wash won't remove your wax, well, It removed the wax on my car better then if I had used some sort of stripping agent so I am sending it back. The best thing is to pick-up a waffle-weave micro-fiber towel and you can dry your car in a couple minutes.

Any chemical you add to tap water to remove the minerals that cause hard water stains will just stay there.

Laboratories that use deionized water run tap water through columns filled with beads of an ion-exchange resin. There are also household ion-exchange water softeners, but the process adds sodium to the water and makes it unsuitable for outdoor use.

Drying the car doesn't take you THAT long, does it? :)

I use 16 ohm H2O from the chem lab at school for all my vehicle fluids that require a water mix. Coolant is 50% Deionized water, windshield washer is 80% Deionized water. Great stuff. I've never seen water that does NOT conduct electricity before but here it is.
