On the highway... cruisin I pass a MB C43. He moves in behind me going for the draft or something? Then he signals and hits the left lane. He must have been using WOT and had an exhaust kit cause it wasn't you're standard MB C43 engine note. He gets in front of me and I notice that it is a C43 with an exhaust.:o

The guy backs off and comes even with him. He hammers it again and I'm off with him. We start moving and I'm pullin' on him. I'm like YEAH!:D I'm handing a MB C43 his ass! I pulled on the guy some more before easing off and returning to 'sane' speeds. The guy pulls up next to me and give me the thumbs up. I was going to ask the guy what he had in there, but buffetting wind speeds at 70ish make it hard to hear and communicate other than hand gestures.

It was a great run tho.

Nice kill! What exactly is the C43? How fast is it? I've heard of the C340 (my friend has a 2001 C340 Sport), but never the C43. Could you please enlighten me? Thanks!

C43 is the equivalent of the M3 for the Mercedes. It only comes in automatic tho, but I believe it has a larger engine than the M3.

nice kill,,,
i bet they are pretty heavy since they have that kind of HP #'s. also, the slushbox (auto) probably doesnt help much either.

My friend has a 2000 C43 and the horsepower on that beast is 302hp with 302 torque, stock.

It is supposed to run 0-60 in the mid to high fives.

Kevlar.....what you got in your car?
Seems to me that the c43 is pretty quick.

You can see everything about my car at

My car supposedly will pull low 5s to 60 and high 13s in when I don't have all my crap in it. The times posted on the site were with a full tank of gas, all my stereo stuff and all my work crap. (I didn't have the foresight to take it all out).

Kevlar, thanks for the info. on the C43, now I know what you're talking about; there is a silver one on campus here that is SLAMMED, way to low for me, it does the ricer bounce-bounce-bounce when it goes over bumps in the road--I HATE THAT!! Anyway, it looks like a fast car, I've revved at him before, but no reaction from him. Maybe I'll get to run him sometime, I think I could get him because he looks stock, and I've got intake/exhaust/clutchstop on my 328is w/5-speed, and my car stock is suppose to run 6.2 compared to his 5.9--so it could be a good run.;)

I considered getting a c43... But the lame thing about them is that the only thing they have different from the stock 4.3L engine is an airbox and exhaust. I was somewhat disappointed by that. The engine has a ton of potential though. Renntech will take it out to a 400+hp 6litre for you for a measley.... oh 60 grand or so.. hehe And you thought modifying your m3 was expensive... nope.

It may not be modded much from the stock 4.3L, but think of this, it is going into a smaller body than the engine was designed for. It's like putting the 4.4L engine from the 7-series into a 3-series body. That thing would fly!

I think the car is pretty decent, except for the transmission. Would definitely be very fast on the freeway.
