View Full Version : Feeler- GB RaceLogic Traction control - Any interest?

has anyone ever started a GB on RaceLogic Traction control. It's something i've had on my to do list but for $1100 its had to wait. I want it for a couple reasons. One is the weather. THe weather here has been pretty brutal and i'd rather have a non restrictive TCS/skid system then the LSD. Sometimes its fun but sometimes its annoying controlling that free floating rear end. I always thought I had ASC until I realized i was mixing it up with the limited slip differential. Anyway, has there ever been a GB on this? Any interest. I"ll e-mail them about it and see if we can get a good price.

Has anyone inquired to Karl at AA as to why the Racelogic misbehaves on OBDII cars? Does the CEL come on too much or ??

We have Racelogic on a customer's OBDII VW GTi('02 w/ our turbo kit) and it has no issues with compatability. The CEL might flash, but it does not cause the car to go into limp mode.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm curious if there are any other vendors that carry Racelogic TC system? I'd rather support BMW vendors before I go off and look for it on Supra or other forums.

I spoke to Jeremy @ Matrix he was very helpful, but unfortunately the special rates the few [lucky] guys got no longer apply. Well, it's too expensive for me to pay the regular price... so I wanted to see if there's any interest for another group buy from someone else, maybe.

I'm ready to buy the system today... so if anyone else is also interested maybe I can even approach another non-BMW vendor with that info.

Thanks a lot!

Boris

Hey Wes, Boris....

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but Bernie at OO Parts offers the Racelogic systems at the same prices as us.

I'm afraid you won't find any other US Racelogic dealers. We are the largest US Racelogic dealer, offering them to any vehicle. OO Parts is more specialized with the 300ZX's.

If you find a good amount of people Boris, I could see about offering you all a special price.

Let me know what you come up with.

I stand corrected....I just remember the "retail" prices where equal or less at OOParts. Of course the group buy prices at Matrix were much better. I would like to comment that I have only had good experiences with Jeremy at Matrix....I haven't bought anything yet but he responds quickly to his emails.

Thanks for the kind words Wes. Customer service is of top priority with us.

The retail prices on OO Parts' website a long time ago were less than ours as Bernie hadn't updated his website in a long time. The last time I tried to view his site(last week) it was down for upgrades but his prices are now current and the same as ours.

Yeah, it does... we recently discussed this in the FI thread... go do a quick search. Neil used it successfully in his track car; I discussed it with him and determined it would be a great mod for myself as well.

My first and only accident in my M3 was when I first got the car and was at the limit taking a turn..... ASC kicked in... the power of the car DIED... (it's like liftoff but worse)... then it kicked back in, etc... it did this a few times as I kept countersteering... but ultimately the car swapped ends and I hit a curb. Had to replace my wheels, suspension and brakes, plus straighten out a fender. I never use ASC anymore...

On price and time-frame I might be in. I just bought Mike E's (Hamann1000) TEC-3 P-N-P...so...no more OBD2 (except one day every two years...;) )!

If we can find someone to do pricing like the last buy (-25%) I would be on it...

What are Racelogic UK's prices like (unfortunately the pound is strong right now)? Australian vendor perhaps??

OK, I did a quick search. Lot's of people says it can't be done with OBDII, but Neil apparantly got it to work. I noticed that Nick G posted that it could not be done, and then that it could. Perhaps more people would be interested if you pointed them to the definitive thread that shows how to install RL in OBD II? I know that I wouldn't want to drop that kind of cash on hardware I'm not convinced will work.

O.K., this is what I found out. RaceLogic CAN work with OBDII, but the DME will have to be tweaked by a skilled tuner. The misfire algorithms will have to be adjusted to "ignore" the misfires caused by RaceLogic. Since this procedure will change the diagnostic ability of the DME, a tuner may require a statement of intent to use off-road.

So, Boris, count me in if the price is right.
