View Full Version : Dallas Meet 10/13/01 Austin 10-03-2001, 12:33 PM Dallas,TX meet same place Pappas Bros BBQ off northwest highway inbetween Loop 12 and 35. Time to meet would 3:00pm on October 13th. October 13th at 3:oopm Pappas BBQ e46driver 10-03-2001, 02:32 PM Wonder if I can get my intake in before then :p QuestMCoupe 10-03-2001, 03:14 PM Mike you need to make one like I did. Easy, cheap, and it works great..seriously. If you spend more than $60 or $80 than its not worth it. I spent...$25 for the filter, about $20 for the rubber connectors and $10 for the 3"PVC pipe. I have a whole lot of PVC left...all you need to do is get the filter and the rubber sleeves. I'll help you make it if you'd like and then we can go race.:D e46driver 10-03-2001, 03:19 PM austin told me yours fell off wed night after we left ihop :D QuestMCoupe 10-03-2001, 03:26 PM Well that is true because if you remember I only pushed the blue tube into the PVC pipe and didnt secure it at all. Then I was racing on the freeway at over 120 and it fell off....BUT I put a new one on Saturday and superglued my rubber sleeve from the blue pipe to the PVC and I've already gone over 120 and its still there....no problems now. If you look at my new intake you'll be able to tell the difference...but if you dont trust that it'll stay then thats ok. e46driver 10-03-2001, 03:49 PM never said I don't trust it. :) those intakes are just a filter and some fancy piping. The only reason I have against making my own is I'm LAZY :D Austin 10-03-2001, 05:41 PM I dont trust anything I can't break. Cuz if I can break it then I know when its gonna go. I dont trust life cuz I'm still alive. QuestMCoupe 10-03-2001, 06:44 PM Austin you make no sense sometimes you crazy bastard. Joe, If the intake fell off, isnt there a danger of unfiltered air being sucked in :( , hope that did not happen in ur case... later..... e46driver 10-04-2001, 11:41 AM Originally posted by Rahul325 Joe, If the intake fell off, isnt there a danger of unfiltered air being sucked in :( , hope that did not happen in ur case... later..... for a short time that won't do anything. It is not like we are driving in dirt roads. In fact, you probably get more power since you have unrestricted airflow :D QuestMCoupe 10-04-2001, 12:06 PM I only drove home with it like that. Once I got home I put my stock airbox back on. I have a new setup now so everything is all good. jesd325is 10-04-2001, 02:30 PM right now im gonna see how many miles it is from here to dallas, cause there arent any meets down here, the closest so far are the arizona folks. el paso has a few bmwcca members around here, but i always forget to drive by one of thier meets. i am also trying to keep the mileage down on my car. i think its a little over 600 miles, cause i bought my car out of arlington. the drive wasnt too bad, but i got a stubborn knee. i wont be able to make this one cause i need to use the money to put my suspension parts on. but maybe in the future e46driver 10-04-2001, 02:39 PM whoa....el paso? :) heheh...that is pretty far....its about a 10 hour drive right? Rahul325 10-04-2001, 03:21 PM Originally posted by e46driver whoa....el paso? :) heheh...that is pretty far....its about a 10 hour drive right? depends how fast ur driving :D e46driver 10-04-2001, 04:08 PM checked the Long Star chapter for the autox. It is on the 13th of oct not 20th. so it is again on teh same day as our meet. Austin 10-04-2001, 04:36 PM "checked the Long Star chapter for the autox. It is on the 13th of oct not 20th. so it is again on teh same day as our meet." fuck jesd325is 10-04-2001, 04:36 PM i guess it would be a 10hr drive, since it took me 9 hrs. from arlington. oh well, that is kind of too far. would have been cool fredo 10-04-2001, 05:09 PM Originally posted by e46driver whoa....el paso? :) heheh...that is pretty far....its about a 10 hour drive right? ahhh, only in texas can you drive for 10 hrs and still be in the same state!!! e46driver 10-04-2001, 05:16 PM Originally posted by fredo ahhh, only in texas can you drive for 10 hrs and still be in the same state!!! muahahah....true dat true dat satyen119 10-09-2001, 11:34 AM Originally posted by e46driver for a short time that won't do anything. It is not like we are driving in dirt roads. In fact, you probably get more power since you have unrestricted airflow :D that is definitely NOT good for the engine though... there's always dirt in the air. i remember reading on the K&N site that two aspirin tablet-sized pieces of dirt allowed to pass straight into the engine can cause more wear than 70,000 miles of normal driving. of course, there's a screen just before the air mass meter that would prevent anything that big from getting in, but still... SG_M3 10-11-2001, 10:08 PM Is the meet still on? do you think the skyline will be there again? Austin 10-12-2001, 12:03 AM yah the meet is still on, i dunno about the skyline but i told him about it. fredo 10-12-2001, 11:28 AM skyline better be there.... :) how about the Z8? austin, you need to make it worth my while to come all the way from houston to go to the meet.... ;) e46driver 10-12-2001, 11:29 AM is fredo drivin? Austin 10-12-2001, 11:45 AM Originally posted by e46driver is fredo on crack? I think so good question. The Z8 said he will be there. e46driver 10-12-2001, 11:56 AM Austin, we all know you are always on crack :D fredo 10-12-2001, 12:00 PM father: where did you get this? where did you learn how to do this? son: i learned it from watching you.... someone else please remember that commercial Austin 10-12-2001, 12:04 PM Originally posted by fredo father: where did you get this? where did you learn how to do this? son: i learned it from watching you.... someone else please remember that commercial Yep see hes showing signs. I might be coming this saturday (4/20) if there is a meet. I don't know for sure yet but I'll try. Wanna race between you and a new M3 :D If it does'n rain be at the same place around 3pm.....if we go on a drive you should go also. SkylineGTR32 04-17-2002, 12:11 AM Race, not this time, it is badly out of tune right now. Waiting on new turbos and cams, then I will have it tuned on a dyno. It should be able to beat a stock M3 (if that's what it is?) at current form but I don't want to run it hard before I get it tuned. I'm expecting over 500 wheel hp after the upgrades, then I will run the M3, I promise. Only on track though, not on street. I'd like to take a ride in it one time. That would be so weird to sit on the left side. You should come hang with us Saturday night at 635 and McAuthur behind Cheddars usually abunch of NSX RX-7's Supras stuff like that are out there.....we usually show up around 10pm Send me a PM and we can trade cell #'s and see whats up. The M3 I would think you could race would be the new SMG M3's I'll have to see if anyone would race you on a track. QuestMCoupe 04-17-2002, 04:04 AM Hey whats up Sami? This is Joe...I was the one who invited you out the first time to the meet. Anyway, I would like to go for a ride in the Skyline sometime too...its not everyday that you get to ride in a car that is really rare in the US. See you Saturday! SkylineGTR32 04-17-2002, 01:44 PM CTC motorsports is doing the work, ctcmotorsports.com I sometimes go to 635 & MacArthur, more so when I lived in the neighborhood. I'm planning to go this saturday. I will take you guys to a ride, just not before it is tuned. I don't want to run it hard when it is out of tune and what's the point of giving you a ride if I'm just going to be cruising... ;) Scho 04-17-2002, 02:22 PM Joe, are you going saturday? I will be out there. I have spread the word to several newbies on DTM! We should have a good crowd! QuestMCoupe 04-17-2002, 02:35 PM Thats cool Sami...we can wait until you get it tuned. Mike, I was planning on going after work Saturday night...I'll probably get there around 11:30 or so. What time are going out there? Scho 04-17-2002, 02:39 PM Not sure what time I will go out there. I will be at the meet for sure. We went to the Denton track Friday. I beat a Lightning and missed third gear. I had a 2.095 sec 60 foot time, but missed third and hit a 9.416. :complain Still won though. He ran a 9.497 with 2.20 60 foot. I need a short shifter. :buttrock QuestMCoupe 04-17-2002, 02:58 PM Damn thats really good! You dont have traction problems at the track? I've gone to Yellow Belly once since I got my new setup and my car spun like a MF at launch and got sideways...I had to let off the gas to get some grip, then when I dumped into 2nd my rear end lost alot of traction, but I still beat friends TA...barely. How do you launch to get traction? It could also be that you're on 17's and I'm on 15's...LOL. Yeah I'm going to the meet for sure before work. Umm...you need to pick up that MZ3 shifter from Austin man! 10 bucks, what you waiting for!? LOL Scho 04-17-2002, 03:02 PM I rev up to 2000 rpm. When the green hits, i let the clutch out but dont go full throttle until I feel the back end grab. Then I take it to the floor. I also dont floor it on the second gear shift, but shift and slowly take it to the floor. If I could sticj the third gear, I could make some decent times. 9.416 was my best and I missed third. By the time i found it, I crossed the finish. I could have had a 9.1 or maybe 9 flat. That is what I am looking for. My rear shocks are mushy, so I think it helps. also, I was running 3/4 tank of gas and had the psare in the trunk. A lot of weight in the rear probably helped. QuestMCoupe 04-17-2002, 03:14 PM I see...what I usually do is rev to 3000rpm, drop the clutch about half way until the car starts pulling then mash it through all gears. I get a lot better grip on the street than the track for some reason. I bet without your spare, 1/4 or less gas, and not missing 3rd, you could have broke 8 seconds. I wanna go back to the track to practice some more. When are you going again? Maybe I can take one of these Sundays off and we can all go to Yellow Belley..its old and ghetto looking but its still a track and closer than Denton. On another note, I ordered my bilsteins yesterday and they should arrive tomorrow so I'll get them put on tomorrow or Friday. Right now Austins car can corner better than mine but we'll see after I get my new struts installed....NO MORE BOUNCING!:b_blue: Scho 04-17-2002, 03:20 PM Cool! I have been talking to Nerces about Ground Control Coilovers. Hopefully, he is gonna hook me up. I'll let you know. I got and X-brace, UUC TME's, and an M Roadster boot to remove traction control that I will be putting on this weekend. Whoo hoo! I need more mods! :buttrock :alright QuestMCoupe 04-17-2002, 03:36 PM Cool. Where did you get the X-brace from? I want to get one of those soon. Scho 04-17-2002, 03:37 PM SG_M3 "Sean". He is parting out all his mods because he is selling his green M3. QuestMCoupe 04-17-2002, 03:42 PM Oh yeah thats right....good deal! |
