Ok... here's the deal.. I will probably wax/polish my car 2-3 times a year at best... I just don't get around to it as often as I should. I don't want to spend hours putting on Zymol, Zaino or whatever.. I don't enjoy cleaning my car hours at a time every single week. I don't mind doing it to start off the program right, I just don't want to make a hobby of cleaning my car...

Having said that what wax/polish would you all recommend? I like the effects of some of the nicer stuff (Zymol, Zaino, etc...), but when it involves 5 steps to get it on, I just don't have patience for it..

Any suggestions?

You can get a decent look with some 1 or 2 step ways to go, just understand that the reason those 5 step programs look the way they do is cuz it's a lot of work, and it pays off, etc...

That being said, Meguiar's makes some nice wax with cleaners in it, liquid in a bottle, easy on, easy off, nice protection, nice shine, better than not doing it at all....

I have a program for you that is relatively easy.

In the spring:

Hand Wash
Clay
Klasse AIO
Klasse SG (one coat will last you six months)

In the fall

Hand Wash
Klasse SG x1

Every week in between you can go to the touchless automatic car wash at the gas station (don't dry after you exit - let it air dry) and you should be cool.

No fuss no muss. Just 2 sessions a year. All of it can be done by hand. And a grand total of 3 days (2 for spring, 1 for fall).

Easy, huh?

Ok.. I still wash the car by hand. No way will I take to any car wash, touchless or not..

Anyhow guys.. thanks for the tips... I am gonna look around and decide what I wanna do.. I want the car to look good, but I am unwilling to spend 3 hours or more to make it that way every other week. It is a daily driver and I don't have the time to make it show quality.

Well after reading up on Klasse I ordered a kit from Autogeek.net tonight. Sounds right up my alley. Thanks!

David: What brand of clay do you recommend? Or does it matter?

Clay Magic and Mothers are both good brands, and they're by far teh most common in stores like Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. I'd stay away from Meguiar's Overspray clay... it was my first clay and I would not recommend it.... its a pretty weird product.

Wedge,

What kyle said. Also see my post "What detailing products to buy and where to get them". I list all the products I use and where they can be purchased. See my how to articles for proper detailing technique.
