maybe they shouldn't have been GIVEN the East title.... FL or TN would have been a better game against LSU.

Makes me damn proud to be an LSU graduate.
If we could only be consistent on offense like we are on defense. It'll be interesting to see how the bowls play out tomorrow. SEC doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Hey, shit happens. I for one hope LSU gets a shot at the title game, but that means USC is gonna get bent over. I can't believe OU got rolled like that against K State. Now not one but both of my teams, UGA and UT are being denied a BCS berth. Oh well. Capital One Bowl here we come.

P.S. I'll see you Tiger fans next year in Athens where I think things might play out a little differently. This was a rebuilding year for us dawgs after all....

EDIT: Oh and UR2SLOW, I'll give you the Gators as being a better game against the Tigers than we were. In the end we beat ourselves more so than LSU beat us. But the Vols, I DONT THINK SO, I mean did you see the Kentucky game? See you in Athens next year for yet another ass whoopin.

UT beat KY by *about* the same margin as UGA -- 13 vs. 20. The game was played in snow and high winds.

I'd say holding KY to seven points was quite an effort.

I don't think that ANY of the teams from the East could've played with LSU. Whoever got selected (UGA was the "unlucky" team) was simply getting thrown to the wolves, so to speak. LSU is clearly the class of the SEC and they proved that last night.

Florida doesn't have the defense that UGA does, so they would've gotten run out of the stadium as well. Tennessee doesn't have the offense that UGA has, so they would've been trounced, too.

Regardless, the Outback Bowl FUCKED the SEC when they took Florida. Now, unless by some miracle Tennessee gets selected for a BCS game (like 0.1% chance), either UGA or UT is going to get fucked by having to go to the Peach Bowl.

I'm sorry... everyone knows my hatred for UGA... but even I can't say that UGA deserves to go to the Peach Bowl. I think that, if UGA fans were to set aside their bias as I have done, they would admit that Tennessee deserves much better than the Peach, as well.

Oh, well... I'm excited that LSU's getting to play for the National Championship. Early indications are that USC is getting screwed this time around. Perhaps this will enlighten the powers that be to the simple fact that their precious little system doesn't work and that a playoff is the ONLY answer.

There's THREE teams that deserve a shot at the championship, but only two will get it. That's not fair in the least.

Aaron, I am in complete agreement with you that Tenn. deserves a better bowl than simply the Peach against probably a now overrated Clemson team. One thing you have to remember, and as much as I hate to admit it, the Gators have a damn good team. If you think about it, they were maybe three plays away from being 11-1 this season as they were only soundly beaten by Tenn. In addition, they were the only team to figure out LSU and take them to school. They straight went it to Baton Rouge, aka. Red Stick, LA and whooped up on the Tigers. Therefore, last night I think they would have been the better opponent against the Tigers. The Dawgs flat didn't come out to play, plain and simple, I don't know why, but they didn't. Something tells me the Gators would have, but what do I know, thats enough ranting for me.

UR2SLOW

Looks like TN will get fucked, because they won't put UGA against Clemson again....

I wonder why UGA fans only bring up the KY game in comparison.
What about the VANDY game!?!?!?!!?!?

How about a Texas - Tennessee bowl match up???

Ron17
12-07-2003, 04:57 PM
Now that KSU beat OU, Texas is left out of a BCS bowl due to a rule that only two teams from each conference can go, max. So... it appears that Texas will be going to the Cotton or Alamo (ALAMO!?!?!?!?!) bowl, which Tennessee won't be going to either.

I was intrigued by the talk of UT vs. UT in the Fiesta Bowl, but KSU shot that one down last night in convincing fashion.

Chance, LSU's game against Florida was an abberation, I think. Regardless of how well Florida seems to be playing right now, I don't see them being able to stay on the same field as LSU. There's one team playing well enough right now to hang with LSU -- USC. Apparently, Oklahoma is vulnerable.

UR2SLOW

it's official:

a #6 team vs a #31 team in the Peach Bowl.....

How fucked up is that?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It should have been either Ole Miss or Florida playing Clemson and Tennessee-Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

Haha we're in the Sugar Bowl! Gotta love the ignorant-ass BCS!

At least Billy Bennett TRIED to pump his team up - what a little fag. "Yay, I made a field goal! Come on, boys - pump it up!"

Usually, the receivers are the ones who screw you by dropping the ball, but the PUNTER?!? Very nice Ely-Flame-o...

Not to mention Vincent's 201-yard rushing performance.

Tigers own the Georgia Dome.

You know I was cheering for LSU, but Tigers fans shouldn't bring up kickers. Chris Jackson has to be the worst college kicker I've ever seen. That first PAT he missed was the most horrible point-after attempt that I've ever witnessed. Even my roommate was laughing. Then, he shanked another one. I mean... c'mon.

Bennett is, at WORST, a reliable kicker... he just choked in one game. That 51-yarder was quite a kick. Anything over 50 deserves some credit.

bcart1991
12-08-2003, 02:49 PM
Nah, Jackson isn't bad. The 1st PAT was blocked. Y'all are prolly a bit young to remember a guy named Wade Richey.

He could put the ball out of the back of the end zone on every kickoff, but he would nail his center in the arse on nearly every PAT. Late in the season, we just started going for 2 after every TD, because we had just as good a chance as Richey did making the PAT.

I don't know what Jackson was doing in the game. Ryan Gaudet has been very consistent earlier this year & previous. Maybe Saban wanted to give him some PT.

Oh well, let's see if I can make it 'home for the holidays...'

Carter

P.S. - I can make 51-yarders indoors. Granted that's without pads, rushers, crowd, etc., but I can do it, so any team's kicker should be money from anywhere inside 50 yards.

A bit young!??!

I remember Wade Richey like it was yesterday. Highly touted coming out of HS, but never really lived up to the hype. He did have a strong leg, but he just had some "head" issues that kept him from panning out.

bcart1991
12-08-2003, 03:08 PM
Yeah - then he went and had a couple half-decent years at SanFran. No one knows where he is now.

At least I don't.

I think someone made a book called Where's Wade Richey? in the same vein as the Where's Waldo? series.

I could never find him -- Wade Richey. I think that's because he was usually wide left or wide right and I was always looking in the center. :)

7 SEC teams selected for post-season play. SWEET!

Time to start pulling for all the SEC teams to win.

UR2SLOW: correct, what a weak match up.

I still think USC is untested. They do look good, but I will be glad to see the USC Michigan matchup (and hope for the Michigan win or course).

So many people here are scrambling for Sugar Bowl tickets.

Let me also offer my respect to the Georgia team and coaches. After both games interviews of the UGA people were straightforward, honest, and classy. Too often we get these punk kids talking trash just because they lost. I will definitely be pulling hard for the Dawgs.

I just need to say that I really hope Georgia gets their S#%T together before the Capitol One Bowl Game. I am a Purdue alumn and have to say while I am definitely looking forward to redemption from the Outback Bowl a few years ago, I would hate to travel down to Orlando just to see the Bulldogs roll over or play dead.

Go Boilers!!!

Don't you worry, the Dawgs will be ready. This should be a pretty good matchup. But I guess we'll just have to see what happens come new years day.

Quite frankly, I don't think anyone could have beat LSU the way they were playing Saturday night. I was pretty drunk by half-time and don't remember much of the 4th quarter except for throwing every beer bottle and can off my balcony, but from what I saw, LSU came to play. I am saying it now, I think they will beat Oklahoma and have sole possession of the National Championship. Not to say that OU isn't a good team, but they choked against a decent team in K-State.

To whoever was making fun of Billy Bennet, what about LSU's puny little kicker. That guy is the skrawniest "football player" i have ever seen. Did you not see the way he got completely LEVELED after the fieldgoal was blocked?

As far as USC getting the shaft? YEA RIGHT! Who did they play this season? Okay, so Auburn was supposed to be good but ended up sucking...Hawaii, Notre Dame....and they lost to California, an unranked team! The Rose Bowl against Michigan isn't that bad. It is a classic matchup between two teams with a lot of tradition. If USC wins they still have a slim shot at sharing the championship.

Georgia deserved to go to the game; everyone in the SEC agreed upon the way to determine who would go and this is how it wound up. It was our rebuilding year so I am pretty happy how it turned out. I am still going to be rooting my dawgs on on New Years day so I'm not too dissapointed. As long as Green and Pollack come back next year, Georgia will be a force to be reckoned with. We only lose Ben Watson and Michael Johnson. Our freshmen offensive line could never protect Green enough for him to get into any kind of rhythm or momentum. I think he was sacked more than 40 times this season. Next year, with a little more experience, things will be different.

GOOOO DAWGS, SIC 'EM :redspot

Don't forget that it's a possibility Fred Gibson might go pro if someone convinces him that he'll be a high pick.

Also, you're losing Billy Bennett, Damien Gary and Ken Veal.

Yeah, Blue Gold of Michigan. If USC wins there there will be the 'THEY should have been in the championship and THEY are the 'real' champions.'

Oddly enough, I am color deficient (color blind can only see shades of black white, I can see color) and the color purple (not the book) seems to me to be a shade of blue. To me LSU colors look gold and navy/royal blue, almost identical to Michigan.

Oh, and I was accepted into Tech among other schools, but I wanted to actually enjoy my four years of college. As for Tennessee, I didn't even consider it.
