View Full Version : Why I Hate Winters In GA/TN

SO, yeah... this morning, it was 34 degrees and raining. Ummm... does it get anymore miserable than that!?!?! Seriously.

We have 100% humidity, rain and two degrees above freezing. A wet cold feels MUCH colder than a dry cold.

Why couldn't it just be 3 degrees colder and snowing? At least I wouldn't have had to come into work and I'd have some white stuff on the ground outside to take pics of.

No, in the south, it could be -10 degrees, but as soon as the moisture moves in, it warms up to 2 degrees above freezing and stays there, creating the most miserable scenario possible. Then, the next day, the moisture leaves and it drops back down to -10 degrees.

It's freakin' freezing, Mr. Bigglesworth!

Yeah, I miss my Baton Rouge winters where it's in the 60's-70's and there's 3 weeks where the temp actually drops below 40.

You do gotta love it when one of them asks you to put your arms around them and warm them up, when it's cold outside.

You have to remember Aaron that girls without a full mouth of teeth don't count, well not at least in Tennessee.

She had all of her teeth. I think she might've still had her wisdom teeth, even.

Listen, as bad as a rainy, cold morning is here, at least we have the knowledge that it won't last long.

Example 1- Boston. Try temps in the 20's deg F for a few months with dirty, salt-ridden slush all over the place for a few months in a row. Yuk!

Example 2- Minneapolis. Temps in the teens during the winter, which lasts the better part of 6 months. And for whatever reason, garages are not that common for most houses in town. A buddy of mine had to take a cab into work one morning because his CAR WAS FROZEN SHUT!

A few days of cold rain in GA doesn't seem that bad now, huh?

Yet another one of those days...where it's teeth clinching cold & raining, yet not cold enough to snow...

I think I'm just gonna huddle up to my 'puter and home theater for a while to keep warm.

Could be worse. This is what i'm looking at today. We expect about 5-6 inches with freezing rain to follow!

Dear God... Southern winter weather has struck again.

Flurries this morning -- not cold enough to stick. Yet again, moisture leaves when cold arrives... or vice versa.

I hope we get like 8 feet of snow and it paralyzes the South for a month. That'll just about make up for all the 36-degree, rainy days we have to endure.

I spent 2 winters in Indiana.... GA winters are wonderful.

I HATE cold weather, trust me, I'm miserable at 50 but it's still nothing compared to the days where it didn't reach double digits, shovelling snow to go to work because you DO NOT get days off for snow up there, having icy snow falling while you try to drive and it freezes to your windshield faster than your wipers can catch it.

I'll take 28 over -11 any day. It will be over soon.

It's just been the trend for newbies to dig up extremely old threads and post in them lately. :nono

Probably because the net Nazis have conditioned them to search first.

That's a good thing when it comes to their asking the same questions over & over again. As far as just dredging up old posts just to agree with the content, now that's a different story.
