iwannadinanm3 12-02-2003, 09:16 PM wow, that's horrible. Best of luck recovering it
I would not even want my car back if someone stole it. Who knows how badly they beat the shit out of it. I'd rather they just strip it down to parts and I never see it again so I could buy a new one :az:
Good luck though, hope it's still in good shape if you do get it back.
Mark85 12-02-2003, 09:28 PM well if he insured his mods it wouldnt be bad...then he could move up to a 6 with insurance money
id assume it was chopped up by now, and not recoverable...nobody steals a BMW for a joy ride and you do live in NJ, i wont even take my car near DC for obvious reasons
sorry to hear
I wish I could help.
Sorry to hear that.
If there is any chance of recoverry pics might help.
Whoa, that sucks. My friend had his 330CI stolen from Menlo Park Mall. good luck
AllEyezOnMy325 12-03-2003, 12:01 AM hey...sorry to hear about that, my car was stolen a couple months ago in newark..i know how you feel. i hope they find it soon and in good shape...

That's funny! A professional thief will get ANY car he wants, regardless of the alarm system or built in factory security features, and what have you. Ask me how I know? Alarms, clubs, and the like are simply small obstacles for pro thieves...
My M3 was flatbedded right out of my driveway about 2 years ago, never to be seen again! They were pros, they knew what they wanted, and came to get it...
The best protection against any theft is a garage...period.
best of luck to you Mike....I feel your pain man!
Good chance that you may not see your car again but I'll keep an eye out.
I usually pass right by there on my way home from work.
I park my car where I can see it at all times (even for small errands). If I need to go to the mall, or anyplace where I can't keep an eye on it, I take the Jeep. Might be a bit anal, but these days, you gotta be cause of all the scumbags out there.
sirtiger 12-03-2003, 06:16 PM sorry to hear that. :(
any pics so some of us knows what it looks like?
I will keep your car in my mind.... in Jersey quite often...
sirtiger 12-03-2003, 06:53 PM any pics, so we can keep a look out for it?
sorry to hear that dude...:(
girly girl 12-04-2003, 04:46 AM when i was getting my alarm installed, my dad kept asking which one will protect my car the most. and all the guy said was "if they want it bad enough, they'll get it, regardless of the most sophisticated alarm or not" a few people i know, they're cars were stolen in NJ. 2 of them got their cars back out of the 3. hopefully, you'll get yours back also, in good condition. someone on another board, her car was stolen out of her driveway, and a few days later, she saw it at a dealership, called the police, and got her car back.... in better condition than when it was stolen :) granted, thats not likely, you can hope :) good luck getting it back though, i hope they find it.
vodomagoo 12-05-2003, 01:46 AM damn man that realy sucks any new info?
themadhatter 12-08-2003, 06:51 AM lojack - best bet at getting your car back.
Viper has a new system out to that tracks your car via GPS, you can even look it up online to see exactly where your car is.
-Ron
It was recovered. However, his headunit and HM2's are gone. Rotors are shot since it was dropped on them without wheels.
Still not sure on what other damage may have occurred due to the thieves and/or towing without wheels.
At least he got it back though.
themadhatter 12-08-2003, 11:02 AM man, I hope you had photos/pics of the car before it was stolen, it's really a shame but at least you got the car back and that's why you have insurance....you have theft coverage...right?
oh yeah, where did you get the rims from? you may be able to get them replaced if you can furnish the reciept from the shop.
-Ron
themadhatter 12-08-2003, 11:08 AM Mike, shoot me an e-mail buddy, maybe I can lend you a hand.
I still can't believe that this happend to you. I always loved that car, thank god it's going to be back in your hands soon.
Oh yeah, where was it found?
-Ron
Mike only had liability since his rates are stupid high. No coverage for anything due to the theft. :(
themadhatter 12-08-2003, 03:31 PM shit - have him e-mail me for rims. I have a set of 15's that he may want. they even have snows on them.
he can borrow or "buy" them. what ever will help. I also have rotors (maybe 300 miles on them/balo rotors) and calipers from my 323is including a whole rear subframe place many other goodies that he can have if he needs them.
Mike is a great guy, let me know how I can help. Shoot him my e-mail.
-Ron
girly girl 12-10-2003, 06:29 AM i'd definitely suggest getting the viper 1020GPS installed. its vipers version of lo-jack. can show you where the car is at any given time, and if the car IS stolen, you call up viper, give them your passcode, and they shut the car off. so, it just basically dies, and the thieves cant turn the car back on. then the cops are dispatched to where your car is, and you get it back. its about 700-800. definitely worth it though, at least in my opinion. i had it installed on my car not too long ago.
and glad to hear he got his car back and it wasnt in TOO bad shape.

^ you may want to at least check that out.
themadhatter 12-10-2003, 06:38 AM that's the alarm I was thinking about. I need invest in one of those. it's GPS/Cellular so it works better then lojack since lojack requires the police to have the system in the cruiser.
-Ron
themadhatter 12-10-2003, 06:49 AM girly girl, you're on the west coast I'm Guessing? It's 5:50am and you're up posting.....dang.
9397 posts; that's sick.
Did you find a way to crack the code??
girly girl 12-10-2003, 07:03 AM no, i'm in NY :D lol Long Island actually. woke up at 4 this afternoon, so, i'm kinda wide awake right now :stickoutt
themadhatter 12-10-2003, 07:52 AM Oh, I gotcha, that would explain the snow in the GT. you sound like you're doing what I do when I'm on vacation....ah it must be nice. :D

GREAT POST GIRLY.....Glad to see the 318 was recoverd....,I hate Jersey!
themadhatter 12-10-2003, 08:41 AM .....right and NY is so much better. ;)
Z3Don 12-10-2003, 08:50 AM Not that NY is Better....Not knockin your state Madhatter....I have some deep personal reasons why I HATE JERSEY!...My brother was murdered in Jersey in 2002 and to this day my family still cant get the police/ detectives on the case to come up with anyone or anything...My comment wasnt meant as a flame or about it's residents
themadhatter 12-10-2003, 09:00 AM Don,
as per my smileys, I was trying to just fun at your statement. I didn't take it as an attack or flame, hence the ";)". I'm planning on moving south when I can to get out of jersey as it's full of BS laws, taxes and other problems that I can happily walk away from.
As for your tragic loss, I am deeply saddend by this news. New Jersey like any other state has it's problems but for the local PD to be unable to find anything is very troubling. Though I'm not in jersey all the time, I'd be more then happy to help in any way possible.

I hear ya!!! By this time next month, I will have been relocated to Tampa Bay. I can't wait!!!
Anyway, glad to hear the car was recovered.
Stylin 12-12-2003, 04:22 AM oh man Mike.. any updates? Hope everything works out. let us know.
MPowerKai 12-13-2003, 12:26 PM Sorry to hear that man, you got any pics? I'm live in NJ and drive around often so......
girly girl 12-13-2003, 05:50 PM ray, i think he got his car back already :)
Tranceshark 12-14-2003, 04:07 PM Sorry to hear that, man!
drdavidge 12-16-2003, 04:42 PM sorry about the theft, glad to hear you got it back. my integra GSR was stolen from menlo mall in the beginning of september with about $6000+ in mods. they found it the next day absolutely stripped... http://me.drdavidge.com/stolen .. it didnt even have my original hood or fenders or bumpers etc, NOTHING was left. worst part was that insurance wouldnt cover my mods..i lost so much money... it was just about all the money i made last year (hard to work durring school....im only 19) but now i got a 2000 323i but its just not the same... now i got a car payment .. =(
themadhatter 12-16-2003, 05:34 PM that's one of the problems with "dumping" all of your money into the car. I say dumping because the insurance treats you like you threw your money away.
nothing can be said for the pillow biters who steal/strip cars.
-Ron
i wish i had that Viper system in my Z when it got stolen. Oh well, the M3 i'm looking at will get it installed though i don't know where. Anyone recommend a good shop to do it?
yotone 01-02-2004, 04:56 AM dose anyone know how it was stolen? was it flatbedded away or something?
bmwpower 01-02-2004, 12:53 PM Get out of the theft-ridden Northern NJ area... Move to Southern NJ.

i had mine installed at the local audio barn that my friend works at. my guess is, any car audio/performance shop that carries it, will install it also. try asking around at the local places.
MPowerKai 01-04-2004, 02:43 AM auto toys 2000 in belleville NJ will install a gps2000 in your car. You can call or go online to locate your car and call to have your car disabled if your car gets jacked.
NYQUEENZ 01-04-2004, 05:59 AM I guess the easyest and cheap way to disable a BMW is pull your fuel pump fuse out that way the car will die automaticly. But who wants to do that every tyme they park the car..
no adays peepz put in orders like say they want rims or sumdang.. then sumone finds the rims you want on a car.Jack the car and now rollin on your rims u paied X amout for.
U ever seen those tow trucks that back up to your car, hook up to your car no matter how it's park, lift it up and leave with out getting out of the truck.. in the matter of 2 secs.

they are getting more and more popular now too.
BiMmEr JoN 01-04-2004, 09:12 PM wow. i live in edison and have the same rims. i never crossed my mind that anyone could steal my car, not to say that the area is perfect but its just that it happened so close to home, well actaully right in my area. damn man, i'm sorry for ur loss, at the same time, i'm goin to start taking more precautions with my car.
Mike///M 01-08-2004, 08:57 PM First off, let me apologize for not responding right away and second, thanks for everyone's concern.
TDC & themadhatter-
Thanks for all you support and willingness to help out a friend in need. You guys RULE!
:buttrock
My car was found 6 hours later in East Orange NJ. My poor ride's front end was on cement blocks and the rear was just dumped on the ground. I guess the thieves needed the other cement blocks for other future projects. BASTARDS! The rims as well as the head unit were removed and everything else in the trunk like car washing products as TDC stated earlier were also removed. My rotors were damaged and needed to be replaced. They were damaged from the police trying to get the car on the flat bed. The undercarriage was scraped up a bit but no damage was seriously done. I bought new tires for my stock rims and that's how I'm rolling for now. These motors are, without a doubt, amazingly strong! I have 189,000 miles and I thought for sure that my car was done. It pulls just as strong as it used to! Unelievable!!
Once again thanks for your kind support.
themadhatter 01-08-2004, 09:22 PM Mike, I'm just glad that everything worked out as good as possible.
-Ron
No thanks needed, Mike. That's what friends are for! :D
yotone 01-12-2004, 04:05 AM they stole your stock 318 rims?
themadhatter 01-12-2004, 04:07 AM 18x8.5" Hamann HMII's are what were stolen. :(
mbadger 01-25-2004, 11:29 AM Sorry to hear about that Mike, I live in Edison and I can tell you that it's going down the drain fast. In the last two years car thieves have plagued this area, especially in the pursuit of BMWs.
They stole 2 E36's from me in one night, I have a thread about it around here somewhere, thankfully they caught and convicted one of the thieves :D so hopefully he'll get a sweet new roommate in jail.
BiMmEr JoN 01-25-2004, 07:57 PM mbadger ur in edison.....its amazing i've never seen u driving around. i'd definetely notice your car. where in edison?

I'm right on the border of Metuchen, Piscataway and South Plainfield, close to the Middlesex Mall? (Exit 4 or 5 off I-287). I don't drive it or park it anywhere too much (especially malls). I basically just drive to work (less than 3 miles, and pick up my kid from school).
Sounds Like we need a meet for Central Jersey folks !!
