Tell your DAD, great guy, that you agree on the safety thing.
Explain next that a roll bar and 5 point seat belt is a much safer configuration.
BMW CCA has driver training all over the USA.

PS: If it's DAD's money, he wins, everytime.

An e30 is a great car for someone your age. i have a 91 318is and simply love it. Not the fastest ( your 325is is faster) but a whole lotta fun and a good car to learn how to "drive" on. To get an airbag you have to get a 90-91. But honestly i dont trust a 12 year old airbag. I am Getting a Momo wheel and Schroth 4-point harness along with a roll bar soon enough. The parents are very confident in my cars durability and ability to keep my safe. e30's hold up very well and are pretty decent in accidents in terms of structural ridgity.

I just bought a 74 BMW 2002. I am not really conserned with safety yet. I think that i am going to get some 4 point belts and a nice recaro seats. I think thats all you can do, 2002's hold up pretty well flipping.
