What should I do? Thank you Tony :round Hank 11-29-2003, 02:35 PM Can't you just re-tap and use the next size up plug? I know it's a really big job including detaching steering components, dropping the crossmember, and temporarily supporting the engine. I'm sure someone knows the answer to your interchangeability question..if not the parts counter at the dealer should. Let us know. Hank impulsiv 11-30-2003, 01:57 AM Buy an insert kit. It's like an helicoil, but much thicker. When drilling/taping, put plenty of grease on the tap/drill bit to recover the metal shavings. Once done, put some cheap engine oil in the motor and let it pour to "wash" it. I've done it numerous times at the shop with no problems. Waaaaayyyyy less work than removing the oil pan. 95M3032679 12-01-2003, 10:02 AM I'll try that... Thanks :round impulsiv 12-08-2003, 11:49 PM did it work? 95M3032679 12-09-2003, 09:59 AM I did what you told me and its like its brand new, the new plug flows in better then the other one did. Thanks Mark85 12-09-2003, 04:11 PM yea a helicoil is what we used in the shop to fix a stripped drain plug, it was on a VW... but make sure you get all the metal shavings out of the oil pan, just pour some oil in it and let it run right out 95M3032679 12-09-2003, 05:19 PM I poured oil and used a small maganet just to make sure. :round |
