McLaren is now being hailed as the new "F1 Super Team" for 05' by many F1 news sources. Montoya was recently confirmed to have signed with the team for the 05' season. Most likely he will replace David Coulthard whose contract ends in 04' . But this is not cetain yet. Raikkonen's contract also ends at the end of next year and when asked of his future with McLaren after 04' he replied " he is unsure of anything beyond next year" But Ron Dennis is definetly likely to resign him. I really like Coulthard but I think that Montoya has more competitiveness to bring to the table. McLaren with a new car is definetly going for a run at the title in 04' , but things are looking mighty fine for 05' ..........GO KIMI!!!:buttrock

Looks like there might be some McLaren ownage in '04 itself.

David Coulthard broke the Valencia lap record in the new McLaren MP4-19, on its third day of testing since it broke cover on Tuesday.

Valencia testing day 3 (unofficial)
Pos Driver Chassis-engine Tyres Time Laps
1 David Coulthard McLaren-Mercedes* M 1m10.021s 51
2 Juan Pablo Montoya Williams-BMW M 1m10.218s 57
3 Jarno Trulli Renault M 1m10.419s 109
4 Justin Wilson Jaguar M 1m10.504s 130
5 Ralf Schumacher Williams-BMW M 1m10.601s 70
6 Marc Gene Williams-BMW M 1m11.013s 88

Not bad at all for the very first week of testing of the new MP4-19. Looks like McLaren have a winner on their hands here!
Can't wait to see what Kimi does when he gets his hands on the new car. Woohooo!!! 3 more months to go!!! :redspot

The only thing for sure here is that you can't draw any conclusions from testing. If they are having big problems maybe you can tell that, but when you try to compare times it doesn't mean much at all. A couple of years ago the Prost team took all the weight out of their car and Jean Alesi set a record. They admitted later that they just wanted to put up a good time. You won't find Williams, McLaren or Ferrari admitting to anything like that, but it happens.
