View Full Version : rear disc complete, 1 question
eurospec1 11-22-2003, 10:55 AM hello all
i just finished my rear disc conversion from a 323 today, looks and feels great and was a very striaght forward job, only snag was haveing to take the hub of the 323 axles and putting them on my 320 axles.
my question: everyone has always told me that the rear discs on the 323 has 2 brake lines going to the caliper, yet this only has one? is this strange or an odd year or someting? now that i have them on i want to buy new calipers and rotors, so which ones do i get? oh yeah, ive heard e30 rear rotors are the same as 323, but how about the front, will e30 rotors work up front on my 320? thanks guys!
blitzed310 11-22-2003, 06:16 PM Im pretty sure if its stock from a 323i you only need one. There is only one line fitting right? If so your good to go! As far as the rotors why not just stick to 323i rotors??? You can get them in cross-drilled at partsbmw (www.partsbmw.com) they carry both front and rear C/D rotors and for the cheapest prices I've seen, might think of a caliper rebuild kit while your at it and some SS brake lines wont hurt, but now we're talking $$$, but who really cares about money, I mean its just money right....:awink:
Dude your car is officially []D [] []V[] []D :pimpflash
Now hurry up with that turbo so you can beat me...j/k...no really
Yonkers320is 11-22-2003, 08:20 PM the e30 rotors will not fit on the front of the e21, the depth is too shallow, the e21 is like 2 inches deep while the e30 is like a half.....you may have late 323, all the brake line sets I seen have 4 lines for the 320 and 6 lines for the 323......
DHoang 11-23-2003, 12:33 PM this picture was taken off of my former 1980-323i.

And this '80's 323i rear disc brake configuration is identical to my current '82 323i.

eurospec1 11-24-2003, 02:01 PM well i checked the car again, it was an 81 323. every brake line kit i see for the 323 has 6 lines, 4 for the back. mine most defenetily has one, with the banjo type fitting on the caliper, i am going to rebuild the calipers, but i need to know what kits to buy since these seem to be different?
oh yeah blitzed, i think youd have to catch me, even with your turbo LOL!(i dont have my internal engine mods listed on my sig:awink: ) rock on bro, i wish i was in states so i could run with some of you injected 320is, all i know is that ive wooped both a mini cooper s and 89 ford cosworth sierra turbo. blitzed your car owns man!
blitzed310 11-24-2003, 04:19 PM Well go ahead and list you mods... Me and you seem to be around the same ballpark on internals, but the turbo is not yet on...
142LP 11-24-2003, 04:35 PM The 323 rear brakes each have single lines. The only place that I've been able to find stainless steel lines was as Ireland engineering. Measure the length of the rubber line with the banjo fitting and they will send you the closest size. It may be a little big but they work.

eurospec1 11-24-2003, 05:18 PM my engine is built to ireland engineering's 190 hp specs, overbored pistons, 10.5:1 compression, fully balanced, ported head, 292 cam(have to update the sig:az: ), supersprint header, free flow exhaust, dellorto 40's you know the rest, plus i have the 5 speed, 3:91 lsd and a very light euro spec car. (anyone actually know how much lighter the euro version is?) ill try to remeber the rest, it runs pretty well! i love the m10 for its strength and ease of tuning, just gotta get new brakes! LOL
eurospec1 11-24-2003, 05:42 PM i forgot one other mod, i got the TORNADO BABY YEAY! WOOOHOO:clap:
Yonkers320is 11-24-2003, 11:35 PM try www.partsbmw.com too but shipping to Italy would be expensive.
also check www.bmwe21.net (they are in the Netherlands so they may have links for places in Europe) also Demon Tweeks in the uk
