Took my Z3 to the track last week for High Perf Driving School. Came home wanting an M3.

Few days later a co-worker took delivery of a new Z4. I've had no burning desire for the Z4. Until now. Car looks and feels nice. Then I made things worse. Went to the local delership and spotted a new Z4 in Black Sapphire. Now I'm torn. M3 or Z4?

But wait. Few days later I get the latest copy of 'Whispering Bomb' (the mag for the local SoCal BMW CCA). And there it is in black & white under 'upcoming models and expected launch dates'. Spring 2005 - Z4 ///M Roadster.

Patience baby, patience.

There probably wont be an Z4 M Roadster. All rumors point to an Alpina V8 Z4.
Have you driven an S54 M Coupe yet? I think you should try that first since it combines the lighter weight of the Z3 and the power of an M3. Plus it's stiffer than the Z4. And you can get a good one cheaper than an S54 M3 or a 3.0 Z4.

The Z4 is still fugly as hell. Seen right next to the Z3, it's even worse.

Get the z4 in black...ALL the lines are hidden, leaving very nice silhouette...THEN slap on the CSL wheels!

I wouldn't dismiss the M3 so easily. It's VERY light on its feet, especially with stiffer suspension and 245s all around. They are a hell of a car. If you seriously want one a '95 for around $15k is a good deal.

On the M Z4..... it could be nothing but confused rumors. It may be an Alpina version of the Z4. Or it could be a real M version of the Z4.

The news may get clearer in the January auto show cycle. Since California is the biggest M market, it could get announced at the LA Auto Show, Jan 2-11. The M managers and key Alpina reps showed up at the LA Auto Show last year -- but ducked questions on the issue.

But Detroit is the real show....

We'll since in about 6 weeks, maybe.

Performance go with the M3, Roadster go with the Z4 (which are beautiful) The Z4M, as previously noted are all rumor so I wouldn't bet on waiting for one to show up anytime soon.

Nice Hugo...

I like the brushed aluminium trim. I want to do that myself. Damn woodgrain.

Anyone want a woodgrain dash?
