View Full Version : Wanting to Buy: Cassette Player
LPSimpsons87 11-20-2003, 06:05 PM Anyone here got an extra cassette player layin around? Mine broke over the summer and i'm looking for one to replace the stock one. Any radio will do as long as it can be hooked right up to the stock connections.
Thanks in advance.
Dan
Steve@Edge 11-20-2003, 06:08 PM I got one... but it has this problem where it cuts in and out, and the screen is really really dim.
Thinking about it reminds me of the first half of the cars life with me... damn, it was really exciting back then. Still is... but different.
Steve
LPSimpsons87 11-20-2003, 06:20 PM Anyone know if the 325is radios were compatible with a 320i?
BetaTested 11-20-2003, 09:23 PM I've got a stock one, if I didn't throw it away. Wire harness is un molested too. I'll take a look around tomorrow afternoon. The radio works, but it won't play cassettes.

I just want a cassette player because all my songs are on my MP3 player and i have a cassette adapter to hook it up to. I want this to be cheap and simple because i don't plan on having this car for much longer.
blitzed310 11-21-2003, 07:53 PM Doesnt Kragen and Pepboys sell cassete players for like 40-60 bucks. Their cheap and all but if you dont plan on keeping it long do that. Also head units basically transfer to all vehicles so even if you were to buy a good one weather it be cassete/CD/XM you can always take it out and put it in your new vehicle, right? Also check out (you guessed it) eBay!

Tryed eBay. No avail :(
If i were to buy one from Kragen or Pepboys or Auto Zone i'd have to hook up a wiring harness. Dealt with this in the past and its a pain if you ask me...
blitzed310 11-21-2003, 08:45 PM Ok I see where you are coming from. Best bet would be best buy you can find one for like 100 bucks plus they do free install. Or you can just keep searching for the Jurrasic Part :dunno

:laugh jurassic part
Would the cassette player from a 325is work?
BetaTested 11-22-2003, 01:31 PM I'd venture a guess of no. Different chassis, different electronic system, different wiring harness. You can always hack it together, that's what I had to do with mine.
MattE21 11-23-2003, 12:23 PM wiring cd players to the E21 is time consuming... you need to run new wires to the front 2 spekers, and its not going to work properly if you put the cd player in the original spot.
Best Bet is a tape deck from Pep-Boys
Anyone that has a casette player from an original car (like me) that STILL WORKS (like me) is gonna hang on to it becasue its a valuable piece to have when the car is sold in mint originaly equiment with all original and working components. So to try to find a stock deck that still works, is gonna cost you as much as going out and buying a new cd player.
jsut my $0.02
if its on mp3, just rock out with headphones! :headbutt
