View Full Version : Damn Kahala Offramp
SukebeSama 11-17-2003, 10:07 PM shit, on my way home today...I was kinda following a silver E46 M3...not really following intentionally, but we were both headed in the same direction...He got off at the Waialae exit, the one that goes to Kahala...and so did I...right when the exit curves to the right before it straightens out, I was looking in my mirror to switch to the left lane so I could hang a U and head towards Kaimuki, I look ahead of me...and BOOM the E46 was right there...I swerved as fast as I could, felt like I was going to spin out (but not really since I wasn't goin THAT fast)...he cut over and followed me, so I took the turn around and jumped outta my car to see if I hit him, he said yah so I told him to follow me to my house, cuz I live really close to there. We checked it out...it has some scratches, but thank God nothing major. He was a really cool guy and didn't seem all that mad...he was like thanks for swervin and not hittin me full on dude cuz i was worried...opened up his trunk and had a mean ass sound system, I guess he just got it installed...Im so glad I looked ahead again, just wished I looked sooner *sigh*...dunno what I was thinking...but hey, thats the first time I've ever hit someone...first accident in almost 3 years...so maybe it was due hah...but yah, i hate that exit, you never know when traffic is backed up when it curves to the right...I shoulda been more cautious...even tho I wasn't goin that fast....damnit! more money outta the bank! I think my baby is goin to stay stock forever *sigh*
The Beastmaster 11-17-2003, 10:20 PM The main thing is that no one got hurt.
Geez, where you been man? I haven't seen you on the boards in a looooong time. You still have the 318?
SukebeSama 11-17-2003, 10:26 PM nah dude, my dad drives it now...took off the suspension:( still got the BBS rims and exhaust...and the angel eyes...so it aint that bad...Im drivin a stock '92 325i now...with the smoked corner lights...thats bout it...feels weird goin from modified to completely stock heh. I been wanting to add things onto it but I moved out and gotta make rent, and study and work and all that crap *sigh*...I miss cruisin the boards...starting to again...my plan is to have this 325i in a car show sometime in the next year or two hah
The Beastmaster 11-17-2003, 11:20 PM Okay, I got a story about the same offramp. It was late one night about 3 am and I was coming home from hanging with the boys. I was driving my Vette and took that offramp for some reason. I must have been dazed and confused, or just plain tired. Well, I get into the right lane and I'm coming down the hill and for some reason I decided to take the first right. Unfortunately, I had too much speed and didn't make the turn. I ended up on the asphalt triangular berm in front of the Chevron station. No damage to the car, just thinking WTF.
IslandS62 11-17-2003, 11:38 PM Well at least you didn't catapult off of H1 at 100 mph, sail through the air and flatten the Chevron sign while raining flaming debris on the motorists below! Thats happened!
Sorry to hear about your mishap K. Hopefully you can get things repaired for minimal cost. At least the guy was pretty cool about it.
SukebeSama 11-18-2003, 01:21 AM yup he was super cool, i see him around UH and i know his girlfriend, i went to highschool with her...so I kinda mentioned that too so he wouldn't go nuts...people are always nicer when you know the same people hah! but yah I personally just hate that offramp...its designed all funky...I would take the one before it instead but there are so many more lights to get to my house than takin the waialae one *sigh*
Damn glad to hear that no one was hurt....or that noone went and flattened no chevron sign...Good that he was a cool guy.
Hope that things go well for you and your car.
Whats up with the recent accidents:dunno :(
SukebeSama 11-18-2003, 10:17 PM oh i forgot to ask...do any of you guys kno of any good paint shops? I have to get his rear bumper repainted or touched up or whatever since it has some scratches...I don't know much about paint so I have no idea where is good and price efficient...if any of you guys have suggestions, let me know...thanks
oh, and one of my friends said somethin like euro or M3 colors use special paint and shops have a harder time matching it, is that true?

It's probably just that the owners are more anal.

I don't know WHO or WHAT you'd be referring to here!
I've had good luck with Global Auto Body. They did both my front and rear bumpers when certain...people...ran into my car. The match is perfect and metallic blacks are usually quite hard to get right. Paying out of pocket, they charge $400 for a bumper.
thrlls 11-19-2003, 02:41 AM Bummer on the two bimmer accident. Fortunate it was only scratches on the bumper and no major injuries to occupants/vehicle. Also, being the car is silver it should be easier to paint/match. Chock it up to experience and move on.
I remember the day the Acura went off the H1 and went through that Chevron sign. I seen the pics on Speedoptions along with some other gruesome pics of other accidents in the mainland. Those pics really made me think about driving fast on the road ways. Now I only go.......????
The Beastmaster 11-19-2003, 02:41 AM I didn't know Caesar could do that much damage!
As for paint, my aubergine 540 went to Central Auto Body in Pearl City and they matched the paint perfectly on my rear bumper and the right front fender. Cost is probably around the same, but BMW uses Central so if you know someone there, they may be able to get you a discount.
The Beastmaster 11-19-2003, 02:42 AM You saw those pics on Speedoptions? I posted them.
thrlls 11-19-2003, 03:30 AM Is that the one with the guy's head gone or was on the side of his ribs, and his intestines coming out?
Those were some thought provoking pics!
The Beastmaster 11-19-2003, 07:47 AM Those pics are a repost, but they are NASTY! I posted the pics and the article about the airborn Acura. I also wrote about coming home and merging onto the freeway with a pack of Hondas. I guess they wanted to race, but I got in their way so some POS '87 4 dr Accord starts riding my bumper at 55 mph. He was literally 6 inches away! I thought about brake checking him, and getting a new bumper and a new paint job, but there were about 1 dozen Hondas behind him. I don't think I could have taken them on. If only we could get a CCW permit here, I could have held them off. I still have my 15 round clips for my Beretta.

Who do we need to talk to to get this passed? :bigun2:
The Beastmaster 11-19-2003, 10:55 PM The Chief of Police and probably the City Council, but that would be unnecessary as there are CCWs here. The problem is that HPD and the City Council have a burr up their butt about letting people have a CCW permit. The rumor mill has it that only 1 CCW permit was ever issued.
