Ok, let's try again guys. Turnout was great last time... although I imagine it'll be a lot better if the place is actually open to the public! Sorry 'bout that one. But I just called (like I did last time), talked to two people that both told me it wasn't rented out monday night. And I will call monday when they open to make sure that hasn't changed. Anyway, I'll be there at 8PM, upstairs at the bar, come for the 2 for 1 race deal!

I'll be there.....again. It would be cool if the same crowd showed, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Come on folks. 2 races for $18!

You guys missed a good night! We actually ended up getting 3 races for the price of 1 since our lap times didn't come out on the second race. :biglaughb Many of the karts were pretty beat, blistered tires, loose rod ends, you name it, but it was still a blast. I litterally drove the tires off one on the first race, my front left tire peeled off just after running my best lap for the night. I wonder how often they have to service them? I was as beat as the karts though by the time we were done-- still am. Good to meet you varsitydramat, cya next monday? :buttrock

I'm in red, my buddy Clark is in green. Pretty much self-explanatory, he managed to drive OVER the barricades and slide ON TOP OF them to the other side of the track, where he t-boned me. Pretty wild stuff.

channing: good to meet you and Atl3 too, I hope I can make it next week!

That was the accident? How the heck did he fly across the barriers like that? I was on the front straight when it happened and they were still clearing you guys by the time I got all the way around.

I'm thinking of sending an email to the managers about their kart's condition. It was probably the cause of his accident. All 3 of the karts I drove were f-ed up. Channings were downright dangerous.

It was good to meet you as well Naveed. I'll be back next week.

Prince, your all over the place man. Keep an eye on this forum for meet info, the SE has LOTS of them. We're planning on going back to Andrettis next Monday night (11/24). Its the last night for buy 1 get 1 free special.

Ali, yes to both your ?'s. I'll be contacting you in the next day or so.

I've never done this karting before, so you'll have to all give me the lowdown. Looked pretty fun and pretty quick as well!

Seems like there's a lot going on up here in Atlanta which is nice. I used to live in VA where the DTM crew would get together a lot. Since my new job is here in Atlanta, I should be around for a while and hope to get to know ya'll well! especially the auto-x/track-rat crowd!!!

Thanks for the info Ryan. My name is Randy btw.

uh.... small world? :stickoutt

Didn't I meet you the other weekend at the Turner Field autocross? I was the fool with the busted silver 318 that moved from VA a couple months ago, went to school in Harrisonburg.

Anyway, karting is the way to go! I've been to just a couple kart places up in VA, and as you could probably tell, Andretti's got a really nice track, and the karts are good.... when they're maintained.... but yes, they're quick, and they feel twice as quick as they look. We ended up running 3x eight min races monday, and I still have large red bruises on both sides and arms/shoulders/back are still sore. We used to run enduros up in Richmond, VA with similar karts, where each guy had to be in for a 30 min stint, and I knew very few that could survive that without gloves and some foam padding wrapped around your back. It's a fight to drive them, but they respond to throttle steering, trail braking, everything like a real car but with zero delay. There's a lot to learn out there and it's hard to be smooth, even harder to hold a good slip angle through a corner, they're just so sensitive. Hopping back in whatever you drove there to go home feels like you're driving a tank.

Join us next monday, I'll start another thread after I give them a call to find out if the place has been rented out by someone else.

Yep. We typically do dinner and a GTG once/month. We're doing an installfest this weekend up in Kennesaw. You ought to come check it out and meet some folks!

Is that the other thread floating around in this forum about the installfest?

Yeah, that wasn't me at Turner Field. I haven't been able to make it, though this last weekend I alsmot did.

Can't wait to hear about the dinner updates and such!

Thanks all!
