Guys, im considering selling my 97 m3 sedan and getting a 97-99 540I 6sp, just wondering what i might expect to find as far as differance between the two. I really like my m3 but im looking for more luxury and comfort and not loosing all my performance.

Thats what I did and never looked back. The only draw back is I had to start all over again modifing the car. Wheels, struts, springs, lights, stereo, etc...

I did the same. I love the 540-6. The 540 is not as quick as the M3, but almost, and it is definately faster. Not as knife edged but smoother. It's not a larger, more luxurious, M3. It's a 5 and an extremely nice one. No regrets here.

I currently have a 2002 540i 6 speed for sale. see ad in Bimmers for sale and contact if interested. The 540i is an awesome car, but I upgraded to a M5.
