E46 with sport wheels, M62? kind of a five star double spoke pattern. My tire size on all fours is the same, but noticed my
rears are 17 x 7.5
fronts are 17 x 7.0

When I buy new tires can I go a little wider in the back?

Those numbers don't quite sound right if you are referring to the factory Style 68 M Double Spoke wheels.

Factory wheel and tire specs are:

Front: 17x7.5, 225/45/17

Rear: 17x8.5, 245/40/17

Thanks, man. Yeah those are the style. When I bought it as a CPO they must have cheaped out and put 225/45s all around. Unbeknownst to me, I've been driving around with the rears on the front for 5 months.

Come to find out the wider one's bent and the spare is the smaller width. So until I buy a new one, or straighten the bent one

I'll be running 3 7.5s and one 8.5. Shop guy says thats not too bad for a little bit. Any gross concerns?

The rears were on the front? I guess you wouldn't have noticed since the tire was narrower. If you were running 17x8.5 with their correct 245/40/17 tire size, you'd probably have rubbed. You really have a bunch of geniuses at your dealer. Or maybe it was the previous owner who didn't know jack about the wheel and tire sizes.

I don't see a problem with running on just one 17x8.5, as long as it isn't for too long and you don't explore the limits of your car's handling in the meantime. :)

I just put them on my e36 and am not running the staggered tire sizes. I am running 235/40/17's all the way around which gives me much better balance....225's up front and 245's in th eback promote way to much understeer.
