:alright I'm going for my 1st autocross in BMR (Blue Mountain Raceway) near Philly on Nov. 16!!!!
Now I need a helmet. I've read that I need one that has a Snell M or Snell SA sticker on it, right?
And what sizes usually do helmets have?
When coming to this I'm clueless. Nov. 16 is drawing near and I badly need your advice on getting a helmet!

Searched in google and got tons of Snell 2000 helmets from zillions of manufacturers priced from $40 - $300. So which manufacturer do you guys recommend? Thanks!

Don't cheap out on a helmet. All the decent ones are $200+. Get a Snell SA rated helmet, as if you decide to do track events in the future, they don't accept the M rated helmets. Get a Snell SA2000 rated helmet, closed face is safer than open, but can sometimes feel claustrophobic.
OG Racing, Racer's Wholesale and HMS Motorsport are all good places to shop for helmets...

I got a RCI full face for about $140. It is SA2000 Rated. It is light and decent but not great quality. I change helmets every other year so they are fresh and I usually drop them so I don't go for the big bucks.

Larry over at www.mojoracing.com is very nice and service was excellent! I picked up a Pyrotect Eliminator from him at a darn good price (and shipping was cheap too).
A few words of advise for you to ponder though...
If you're *strictly* sticking with auto-x, most clubs will accept M-rated helmets. They are in most cases much cheaper than the SA-rated helmets. Some clubs even allow M-rated helmets in their DEs.
If you want a helmet that can be used in any driving event that you may possibly want to participate in the next 5-8 years, definitely get an SA-2000 helmet (SA-95 are still accepted in some clubs but are rapidly being phased out).
Finally, it's highly recommended that you try a helmet out at a local shop before you buy one online. At the *very* least, go to www.bellhelmets.com and look for their sizing guide. It goes through how to pick the right helmet for your head.
Have fun! ;)

I just bought a helmet last weekend, you really need to try them on. I tried a small Bell X-15 helmet, and a small Bell sport 3, and the fit was quite different. I ended up with a medium sport 3 (which was still a good fit)

Go to your local motorcycle shop. There should be helmets of all certifications in a variety of price ranges that you can try on. I use the same helmet to ride and race, so I splurged a bit for something lightweight, comfortable, and good-looking. I hear Icon makes a pretty good helmet for a reasonable price. Denniskirk.com has some AGVs at closeout prices. There's helmetcity.com too. But if you've never worn a helmet, I would say buy one from a store that you can try on. IMHO the Simpson Super Bandit is probably the best helmet for the money. Its a little expensive, but its light, comfortable, strong, and the helmet of choice for NHRA Pro-Stock Bikes. If its strong enough for a guy running 7 seconds at 200mph then that tells me something about the confidence these people have in the helmet.

I ordered a G Force from OMP about a month ago. I went by their size guide and it fit very nice. Shameless self promotion:
