Not actually right before the Installfest...who would like to grab a few drinks the night of the 22nd? Anywhere's fine with me...hell, 5 Season's rocked, so I can do that too. Who's in?

Me!

How about we drink cheap this time??? 5 Seasons had some good brew, but it's hard having the champagne taste on the beer budget ya know.

If you guys wouldn't mind doing alpharetta, I know this great little mexican place that does $3.25 32oz bud, miller, dos equis etc.... and the service is fast as shit not to mention its never that busy so they don't mind you just hanging out.... Other than that Moe's & Joe's in the highlands is also a great place for cheap beer but its also usually quite busy...

Seriously, Neighbor's in the Highlands would be cool with me. We need a place that has a variety of beer, namely the cheap stuff for broke asses like Jacob, and the good stuff for discriminating tastes like myself. :stickoutt

THE BEAST!!! The best beer for funneling around. We drank so damn much of that cheap ass shit in highschool. Now that we are in college we moved up to the classy Natty Light. 13.49 a case and I like it more than just about anything. Of course, I'm convinced my ID won't work anywhere outside of Athens. :bawl

Wow... I'm a drunk ass college kid and I still don't drink Natty Light... bleh. Southpaw and Icehouse is a big staple at our house... 12 pack of southpaw bottles for 5.99 and cases of 16oz. Icehouses for 13 bucks... and we know a guy that works at the liquor store too so half the time we got 30% off.

I really like Budweiser and MGD though... when I'm drinking bud or mgd from a bottle I feel very distinguished. :biglaughb

Oh, and back on topic, no I won't be joining you damn "of age" people. I'll be drinking all by myself. :(

Okay, here goes...we'll meet at Neighbor's in the Highlands off of N. Highlands, say...8:00? Work for everyone?

Taco Mac was a good idea, but their seating space isn't enough for more than five or so people in a group.

11-06-2003, 11:02 AM
That sounds good. A couple of things:

1) Yes, Jacob, I too am starving myself for a new engine/car (Oatmeal and ramen)

2) Ryan - Moe's and Joe's is badass

3) Geordie - Neighbors is cool too. :)

4) Ron - I don't know about this Beast special reserve. We need to get some soon.

5) Kyle - Natty Light is great! Goes down smooth, less calories than others and is cheap. (You can also pick up case at the BP Monday morning at 12am ;)

6) Jason - Stroh's = :nono Ron, remember "Stratual Light." For those not in the know, "Stratual Light" is the product of Stroh's and Natty Light.... Blleechh.

Anyway, I'll probably be there.

I posted in the other thread that I'd be the grill king for the install fest. I'm only 18 though, so the brewery thing wasn't the best... and it was also on a ridiculous night for me. And... yeah, I don't have a car. Thats another reason right there.

Screw the Beast and Naddy Lite! I love me some Rolling Rock and Icehouse tho'! Every once in a while I see the Silver Bullet on mad sale and I pick up 24 longnecks.

Also, screw beer in a can - it tastes like arsehole.

I've been a big fan of Red Bull and Vodka's lately. Damn that shit is soooo good. Speaking of that, gotta pick up a new bottle of the clear stuff on the way back from class today. :D

Ron17
11-06-2003, 03:42 PM
Red Bull and Jaeger is better... when mixed right, it tastes like a Sweet Tart. I shit you not!

Expensive, though. :(

Moondogs makes good ones and doesn't charge the outrageous price that some other places do.

Kyle K.
11-06-2003, 03:54 PM
Bah, Red Bull is too damn expensive to mix with. It does make some awesome drinks though. I tried vodka and powerade (fruit punch flavor) last weekend and it was good as hell. I think its my new drink.

And speaking of bottles of the clear stuff.... I've got a damn near spankin new one with my name on it. What kind do you drink Jacob? All I can afford is Smirnoff. :buttrock

I'll do ya one better -- try my drink.

It's grain and Gatorade.

Lemon Ice is the absolute best flavor, but I don't think that they make it anymore. So try Citrus Cooler.

You won't taste the grain if you mix correctly, but you'll sure as hell feel it!!

:drink2:

Def

I know Red Bull is expensive, but two drinks out of a $2 can isn't all that bad.

The vodka and Powerade is my old club trick. Get a 32oz bottle of Fruit Punch Powerade, drink about 10-12oz, fill up with vodka. Shake, slam, get your groove on after hydrating yourself AND keeping your tab low. :)

I usually drink Smirnoff as well, but I did just try some Canadian crap called Iceberg that was $10 for 750mL. It wasn't all that bad, and it was cheaper than Smirnoff. Fris is alright, but too expensive for the taste. Kettle One is a VERY good "pricey" vodka that is around Absolut's price, but tastes way way better. I can drink that shit straight, and normally I hate vodka straight(but it makes the best damn mixers besides Jack and Coke).

Yes Yes Aaron, I know Crown and Ginger is a damn fine drink, but not everybody can be a Scientific Geek Balla' ya know? :D

Anyway... so we going out to 285 AGAIN? I vote for some place in midtown so I don't have to drive so damn far. Moes and Joes is pretty good, but personally, I just can't fight Rocky Mtn. If my roommate is bartending, I guarantee you a good time... or if nothing else some poor bastard is going to get just ripped up. :evil2

He doesn't usually work on Sat. tho'.

alfatech
11-06-2003, 08:04 PM
grain and gatorade is for punks :)

Best Mix:
-1 20oz Sprite
-2 Cups Ice
-4 Shots Golden Grain
-Enough Powerade / Gatorade / Kool-aid powder mix to cover the grain taste

blend to your liking... or add more ice as needed to get the consistancy you like

this is by far the best combo.

My friend also originated a drink that is no longer available but it was called "Sex in the dorm room" it was wild turkey and surge :)

I have to disagree with you on this one Jacob. I have bought a couple of bottles of Ketel One on occasion and feel the stuff is way overpriced for what kind of taste it delivers. I am a Stolichnaya man myself, $17.99 for 750ml at PW in Athens. Its only $2 more that a same sized bottle of Ketel but the taste is far superior in my opinion.

I love me some Ketel One... I can tell if someone tried to slip something cheaper in the drink. The great thing about vodka is that it mixes well with any fruity tasting drink. Another good mix is Tequila and moutain dew. Keeps you awake! Good for camping trips.. YUM YUM

Actually, the best drink ever is a little something I came up with in college called "Gatorlade." I've posted the recipe in Off-Topic a couple of times. It was easily the most popular drink at all our parties and got drank up in no time.

Cool thing is, no one realizes that they are drinking alcohol (if they didn't already know) and they get fucked out of their mind in no time flat.

Shit tastes like Lemonade, affects you quickly like Gatorade, but fucks you up like Grain. :)

Come on down! You're the next contestant...

Anyways, seriously guys -- let's get a good group to head out and wet our throats with amber goodness. :)

When I was out in Buckhead with Ray (silver 350Z) the night before the drive and we met up with Neil (+wife +friends), Marco, Geordie and Anna, that was a blast! I enjoyed hangin' out with people in a more social setting, rather than centered around something about cars (not that I don't like cars, but it was a nice change-of-pace).

So, if you're not already planning on it, please try to make it out. We have fun.

Especially you, Neil, since you're leaving us for the Windy City. :(

There's no lesson to be learned here. My "ish-talking" has nohing to do with how the Bees performed this past weekend against hapless Duke, nor the upcoming battle b/t our two alma maters. It simply has to do with the fact that I HATE TECH.

I would still say "Tech sucks" if they had just beaten Oklahoma 77-0, or if they lost to one of the worst teams in the country this past weekend...oops, they did. :laugh

It's all about the in-state bragging rights and the fun you have picking at close neighbors and best friends that makes Southern Football so enjoyable.

Am I right? :)

Ron17
11-13-2003, 11:39 AM
Recent seasons (and, consequently, failures) have sent me down another path.

I won't engage in the talk of who will beat who, because I know I'm just setting myself up for additional humiliation and heartache. My teams consistently disappoint. In fact, every year, all but ONE team in all of [1-A] college football is a "disappointment."

Will Tech beat UGA? Probably not.

Will Tennessee go to the SEC Championship Game? Probably not.

If I talk noise about either team to the fan(s) of other teams, will that ensure a loss and/or disappointment of some other sort by my teams? Most certainly. That's the way it works for me.

So, I've learned to keep my mouth shut. Sorry... I'd love to sit here and bash your precious Dawgs, but all that would do is make it a certainty that my teams will fail.

Instead, I'm resigned to sitting back and letting things unfold as they may. Also, I try to keep my taunts to a minimum, because I know when my teams fail, the last thing I wanna hear is some obnoxious fan of *fill in other team here* running their mouth about the loss. What goes around comes around and I don't wanna give others more incentive to taunt me than they may already have.

BimmerDawg
11-13-2003, 11:55 AM
No, I definitley agree with you. I'm not one to sit and talk smack about another team either. Honestly. I just like having a little fun with it, especially with all of the Tech students and/or grads on this board.

Saying "Tech Sucks" isn't too harsh...just "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate." :)

11-13-2003, 12:08 PM

highlands isn't the name of the city?

It's a section of Atlanta. Just like midtown, downtown...

Of course the line does get blurred for some small cities that are basically part of metro Atlanta...

Anyway - the Highlands are right by midtown. About a 5 min drive from Tech's campus.

you gotta figure out your own surface streets, there's about 132 ways to get there...

Get off at 10th, kinda head left towards Monroe, do that right left or left right left juke at the end of Piedmont Park to get on Virginia Ave and wander over to North Highland...

Or somehow get to Ponce and hang a left on North Highland Avenue down there by the Majestic...

Or go to Birmingham, Alabama, and see what's up in B'ham.

Yes, Jimmy. That is the name of the city.

Highlands, VA

Not sure of the zip code, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

We'll see you there tonight at 8pm.

All the way from California, too!! He was really interested in stopping by the Installfest for 30 minutes, so he came cross-country.

Ohhhh... sorry! "tfab." The answer we were looking for was "tfab."
