Mikea 11-05-2003, 11:01 AM Or is anyone running big HP on s50 crankshaft? What are your HP #'s? Dinan330ic 11-05-2003, 11:56 AM what are you talking about? Are you talking about for FI'ed cars? What car do you have? Mikea 11-05-2003, 12:13 PM Yes, I have turbo M3. I am asking how much hp I can run before my crankshaft breaks. I am currently upgrading my turbo set-up. mrdoenutz 11-05-2003, 02:54 PM Hey Mikea, I cant wait to see your results, i wanna do a similar setup to yours. whakiewes 11-05-2003, 07:17 PM Not sure, but I know a lot. It is forged and fairly light weight. I am pretty sure it can handle more than most BMW Turbos will put out. I am hoping to have a dyno of 30psi here in about 2-3 weeks provided I can find a way to fit an intercooler large enough in the front and update my fuel management to handle 30+psi. Wes P.S. Thats on a knife edged S50 crank Spencer 11-05-2003, 09:11 PM Originally posted by whakiewes Not sure, but I know a lot. It is forged and fairly light weight. Thats on a knife edged S50 crank Wes, From what I have heard, the US 3.0 has a cast crank, whereas they switched to a forged crank on the US 3.2. So you've verified that the 3.0 is forged? Mikea 11-06-2003, 01:14 AM I think S50 has a cast crank. whakiewes 11-06-2003, 08:12 AM Hmm, I may be mistaken. Let me check. I know for a fact to 3.2 crank is forged and lightened by quite a bit over the 3.0 crank making it much more desirable. I will get back to you. Either way, we are seeing how much boost we can put out of an S50 block with JE 8.0:1 pistons. Wes Mikea 11-06-2003, 10:00 AM whakiewes- I have JE 8.2:1 pistons, please let me know you results @ 30psi. I plan to run 23-25psi maybe more if I ever get my w/a injection to run correctly. mrdoenutz 11-06-2003, 10:15 AM My goal is to run about 23-25 psi also, my goal is 600rwhp. Not sure what size turbo i need to get that though, anyone know??? Mikea 11-06-2003, 10:44 AM If you want 600rwhp you must go with a standalone fuel system, you will also need a turbo that can blow at least 72lbs/min. mrdoenutz 11-06-2003, 10:48 AM hey mike, hit me up, i wanna chat. do you have aim? whakiewes 11-06-2003, 10:55 AM Here is my setup as of today...could change as we are having quite a few fuel issues. TECIII Stand alone Cartech T4 Manifold Garrett T66 .68 A/R 4" in 3" out JE 8.0:1 pistons Knife Edged 3.0L crank Balance rods custom metal headgasket 3" full exhaust straight through(magnaflow end) 3" aluminum piping throughout Spearco 24.5X11X4.5 rated at 1380 CFM RC Engineering 770cc injectors Bosch 150psi fuel pump larger fuel lines all the way HKS GT Wastegate Greddy Type R blow off valve Custom lightweight flywheel w/ custom built Turner Clutch...rated to 600whp umm...what else...everything is heat wrapped 3.15 diff 40% lock There is more but I am at work right now. I was kind of trying to keep it quiet but I am so close to being done now that I am not worried. We are having two issues...one being spark. We are looking for quality plasma coils. Right now we just pretty much blow out the spark. Fuel is troubling me. It seems as if 25lbs is pushing the injectors, but I am hoping its my fuel filters just not flowing enough. My goal by the end of December is to hit 30psi safely. I think we are going to dyno with race fuel, but not sure yet. We need to get it running first:). Wes BTW...The garrett T66 fits nicely. We tried a T61 but its flow rate wasn't sufficent for more than 30lbs. Most of my work comes from working on supra's and I am basically dupicating a nice single setup. Mikea 11-06-2003, 11:01 AM mrdoenutz- sent you a pm. Wes- Are you say 770cc injectors are not suffecient for your set-up? mrdoenutz 11-06-2003, 11:13 AM Wes how much hp are you trying for? mrdoenutz 11-06-2003, 11:15 AM Wes why dont you use the tec 3 coils?? volgas 11-10-2003, 11:46 AM splat. can we leave off all the nader nonsense on this web site. it offensive. old ralph is is so far left it hurts not to mention he does not own a car nor does he drive one. to put that on this site a site that is dedicated to car lovers(bmw) is a in insult to all car lovers and freedom loving americans. ps. just another know it all lawyer! |
