Posting this here cuz it will be appreciated more than over in kill stories.
So going to school today at 9 and I cannot believe my eyes I see a black 81 with an ALPINA front end :eek:. Run 2 campus stop sighs to catch up, and see the back end reading ALPINA B6!!! No freaking way is this true. I come up next to him and we just stare at each other and we both know to pull over. We were like holy crap I never see sweet ass e21's. He was an Asian guy, So heres the scoop on his ride. It is not a real ALPINA :dunno. It’s an 81 with full alpina kit, alpina cluster, euros, ANSA pipe. Motor had 286 cam, electric ignition, CAI, headers and that’s about it. We chat tell him about this forum and off we go down Kellogg drive about a good half mile straight to take care of business. We line up do the honk 1-2-3, and Bam! Got the half car launch up on him even with my clutch screaming for mercy. 2nd gear same half car lead, 3rd gear full car length, I love my third gear pull, it’s the best, love the sound of the M10 hitting 6000rpm WOT. Hit 4th and about a 2 cars on him and we shut down due to a campus shuttle coming, but it was so fun. Cant wait till I get a new clutch, it was slipping so bad. All in all cool dude, although he did have a passenger so it may have contributed to his slow pace. Didn’t see the speed, to busy looking for campus cops, staff, etc...

Thought I would share my first legit race with an e21, besides riding Attila's ass on the Bimmerfest cruise... Cant wait till the next one...:clap:

yeah, w/ a new clutch, u should be able to add some more car lengths to that race :)

first race w/ an e21? hehehe, matt & i raced a bunch of times :D (but i need a freakin lsd, cuz i usually end up spinning one rear wheel from a stop) ....robbie & i went from a rolling 75mph :D ......raced nic once, blahhh :( (lol, he left me in the dust)

I dont know the speed unfortunatly, I got out of 3rd and soon as I hit 4th I let off, I hope he was "really" trying, dont want to overestimate my cars abilitly agaisnt another fellow e21. It was kinda sketchy since we have 5.0 rollin around all the time...

CJ, where do you go to school? I'll have to bring my e21 up some time and hang out with you and Attila (and maybe some of the e30 people too).

BTW, I saw your car at Bimmerfest (it WAS the other e21 that was right by Attila's, right) but never figured out who it belonged to. You can try your hand at me, but at the moment I just have a HiPo head and no interior for mods (and a cut AC belt :D ). You'll probably take me.

And since your A/C is cut you should gut it outa there, when I took all mine out I was very surprised at all the weight it took off, now that I think of it I should of weighed it all, anyone know how much weight it saves?

I would think it to be more than that with all the lines, condensor, aux. fan, compressor/pump, and all the brackets and such... I dunno, I could be wrong...

Someone who did it gave a ball park of 20-30 lbs. Pretty hefty crap, especially for crap that doesn't work.

Just an update ran into the guy again, this time we went on a freeway run. He was behind me and wanted a taste of "Bella", so he got it. Didnt think I would have to much on him but I was suprised to see in all honesty he was dusted by many car legnths. It was a great time though, we were on the phone and he was telling me he had significant trouble keeping up and I was just walking away from him, to give him credit he needs his car tuned idles a little funny in the warm up stage but after that he's all good. Anyways bottom line he couldn't keep up and that definitly raised my moral, thought I was a badass that night but after toying with an 2003 A4 1.8T(lowered & aftermarket exhaust) I was placed back into reality... Thanks Twan, good times...

i know exactly were kellog dr is! used to take that exit coming from the 210/10 shortcut to go my parents home in Walnut! by the way my sis graduated from Cal Poly,1997 i think? ;)

Funny to look back at this and see the 'good ole days'. And even funnier to see that I THOUGHT that the '81 had a HiPo head. Researched it with the place the PO bought it and found out that they either have bad records (not likely) or that they SAID he was buying a upgraded head but actually shipped him a stock spec head. Oh well, at least it wasn't a selling point of the car.

Anyway, you still talk to this guy? And funny that you got put back in your place by what Atilla just bought.

Yeah I was like whoa thats was a while ago, but nope I havnt seen the guy since. See his car now and then in the lot, but oh well...
