View Full Version : Wanted: E30 rims/tires
IslandS62 10-29-2003, 12:03 AM Any Hawaii members have a set of E30 wheels that they want to sell? The 14" basketweaves on my car are pretty toasted and probably not worth refinishing. If you ever want to see why you should not use those nasty cheap acidic cleaners on your wheels, take a look at these!
I have a couple 15" E30 M3 rims I can trade, or I might also have a Dinan E36/Z3 strut brace or Black Strong Strut CL brace to trade next week.
Will try and get some pics of the car soon.
thrlls 10-29-2003, 02:38 AM Just post some pics will you!
You don't have to make it all pretty :llkiss:
We want to see b4 and aft. pics.
:needpics
The Beastmaster 10-29-2003, 07:14 AM Geez, all this talk of selling cars and buying a new one has given me that itch again!
IslandS62 10-29-2003, 03:23 PM *cough*850ci*cough:stickoutt
Then you will have a 3,5,6,7 and 8!
IslandS62 10-30-2003, 04:16 AM Aw the heck with it. Tirerack had 16" ASA wheels for $109 and YR rated Pirelli PZeros on sale for $74 a piece!!
Can't beat that price! (cheaper than the Kumho 712!)
Anyway, they'll be here on Friday :D
Going to go shop for brake pads and rotors now :)
The Beastmaster 10-30-2003, 04:24 AM There you go about the Kumho's again.
IslandS62 10-30-2003, 03:32 PM I have a Korean girlfriend, but I just say no to Korean cars/tires :D
In the future, stay away from Pirelli PZero's.
I'd go with the Kumho Ecsta Mx instead.
Both the PZero Nero's and the PZero Assymmetrico's get greasy very quickly on the track. :az:
IslandS62 10-30-2003, 04:11 PM I guess I'll find out at Spring Fling:95
The MX was not available in 205/50/16...at what I wanted to spend I could choose between the Ecsta 712, Sumitomo HTRII, Yoko ES100 and the PZero. I hear the Yoko is a good tire, but for the sale price, I wanted to try the PZero more (it was developed for the F40 after all!). We'll see if a made a mistake, but they were cheap and the car only has 140hp. Anything is better tahn the 14" GoodYear NCT touring tires the car is wearing now :D
IslandS62 10-30-2003, 05:00 PM Any recommendations on a shop to swap out the springs? Pacific Automotive? Eurosport chrges about $200 I think..
The Beastmaster 10-30-2003, 05:07 PM Woody's Garage!
IslandS62 10-30-2003, 05:20 PM We need spring compressors. I don't think Dean has a set. Does anyone else have one we can use? Reid?
I dunno, might be easier to just take it somewhere.

Next time go with Falken Azenis in 215/45/16.
Absolutely the BEST street tires IMHO.
Too bad they don't offer them in a size I can use on my black car.:(

I do not have any spring compressors.
Hawaiian Rent-All in town rents out spring compressors for a small fee.
Is the DIY this weekend? :)
IslandS62 10-30-2003, 05:57 PM If you guys actually want to do a DIY you are welcome to come over :dunno I was going to maybe wet sand the 318 on saturday anyway.
LMK. I can rent the spring compressors.
Gene V 10-30-2003, 09:37 PM you're going to need better tires than that when you get the S50 in the car...

When/where/what time?
I'm free this weekend and I'd love to help out. :)

LOL!
It'd be like having a lightweight M coupe.
thrlls 10-31-2003, 02:15 AM I can't make the DIY this Saturday :(
I have a dentist appt. @$*(&#. And I have a bathroom cabinet being delivered, so I'll need to remove the old to put in the new.
I guess it's still a DIY, of a different kind.
I wish I could be there, I'd like to learn how to change out springs. That's cheaper than $200 and a lot more fun also!
Go Korean, IslandS52! You can't go wrong.
IslandS62 10-31-2003, 03:56 AM Reid: I think we should hold off on the DIY, we just had one last week ;)
I have some brembo rotors and brake pads coming in, maybe some other stuff. I'll host another DIY in a few weeks. I am not going to attempt the spring install...just going to take the car somewhere to have it done.
