View Full Version : Had fun at Chapterfest...Dammit i'm hooked...
Mpowered02 10-26-2003, 12:43 PM Had fun at Chapterfest this weekend. Nice meeting those of you that I met...always nice to put a face with a name. Anyway, I had a blast in the Auto-X...i'm definitely hooked. Too bad it's the end of the season already...:(
For next season i'm gonna have to try to make it to more events and am gonna have to hook it up with some 20" spinnerzzzz for the auto-X.
Seriously, gonna have to shop for some 17's to put tires onto. Damn, another money pit to put my money into...
schosports 10-26-2003, 12:49 PM Told you so.:stickoutt
How many years have I benn telling ya come on out.
Glad you had a good time and nice to see all of you out there. Sorry John and I had to leave early, but our loyal fan husband jobs had to be done too.
BTW the game ended in a tie, but they looked very good for the start of the season.
Hey Alvin, it was cool meeting you. It is cool putting faces with the names on this site.
I had fun. We had a GREAT showing of team.BAR too. ALL our members showed up and competed. That is AWESOME!!
If you liked autoXing....you HAVE to try a track event!!! I would suggest trying to participate in a steady number of autoXs next year and I bet you will learn A LOT...and have fun at the sametime.
Al-
It was finally nice to meet you. Next time drag Jack and Brian out there!
Andy is right, if you like autox, try a DE. That is addicting! More money to throw out the window! :laugh
schosports 10-26-2003, 09:19 PM Anybody get some good pics of us all under the team.BAR tents? Thanks to Al for suppling team.BAR tent #2.

Yeah, yeah, I know Bill... But it wasn't that I never wanted to go before... Just that I either didn't have a decend car, or I couldn't spare the time on the weekends. Plus, I knew if I went, i'd get hooked and would have another money pit to sink money that I shouldn't be spending into. Damn, I think I have way too many hobbies and too many project vehicles...
Anyway, thanks everyone for making my 1st time out a fun one. No I just need to work on my times and keep from going off course...
John V 10-27-2003, 09:24 AM Good to see another auto-x recruit get hooked.
I got my usual butt-whooping by Glenn, and Neil beat me as well. Glenn, I know you were looking for FTD, but you were pretty consistent out there.
I was pretty frustrated by the way I drove. Oh well. Next time...

Modesty aside, this didn't feel like a win for me. I've beaten that Camaro before...was VERY disappointed that I didn't get him last saturday. Every time I'd clean up on a section that I'd previously blown, I'd fubar on another section. Sloppy, sloppy driving!
FWIW, John, I feel that you would've beaten me had you been driving my car (or another equally-prepared one).
I was on-course for 2 of my runs...:dunno

Damn Glenn....that is a GREAT excuse. I wonder if Pete knows about this one!!!:laugh
That is my excuse. When people beat me I just say, "Yeah, but you drive a BMW...you should be beating me". And if I beat a BMW owner...I say, "Dude, you suck...I beat you in a freakin stock Honda". Either way, it works out pretty well. :D

Nah. I was driving very sloppy, too. I got the top section right, I think, but never did the lower area correctly. When I came close, I f'ed up the finish area.
THough I liked when Kevin announced my last run's time. Andy ran up and gave a shout out ("YBR SUCKS!").

Hey John, I appologize for that. I was angry and upset. :(
Also, that was before I knew that team.BAR and YBR joined forces to conquer the ENTIRE car enthusiast industry. YBR will get all the support it needs from team.BAR to succeed, "at da showZZZ". :D
Same here, John...same here. Get the top part right, f up the finish.
Andy: You don't understand. John V. kicked my ass by over a second on a 30-second course in my own car. No excuses there!

Hopefully, it is more than a year. That way I can milk my excuse..., "yeah, but I have only autoXed 5-6 times...you SHOULD be beating me".
Damn, I am getting good at this.:laugh
Juan ///M325 10-27-2003, 11:10 AM I'll try out next season, no clutch excuses :) John V and Glenn, you are two driving mofo's. When I grow up, I want to be like you;)

Seriously though, nice driving. Maybe you can come along with me next autoX. I could use the help.
vjlax18 10-27-2003, 11:39 AM So, John, are WE driving MY car with YOUR tires on the 15th? :D

du du du, Glenn has his work cut out for him:stickoutt
John V 10-27-2003, 11:57 AM I don't think Glenn has anything to worry about.. he's proven that all season long. And I have wanted to drive your car for some time. Damn, it's fast...
Anyway, he's got the season wrapped up with regard to points in SSM...
John V
vjlax18 10-27-2003, 12:04 PM It'll hard to adjust to the extra power, but if you crash it, you fix it ;)
And Glenn's just at the top, so he's the target...
And on another note, I won a trophy for 2nd place in Novice class :dunno: :D
Were they giving away trophies this weekend?
vjlax18 10-27-2003, 12:15 PM I think so...
Personally, I'm getting tired of Glenn's whole zen act. Teases us with his first three runs -- so we're in striking distance full of surpassing expectations -- and then blows us away on his final run. (Of course, he almost always manages to get 1 or 2 re-runs).
Damn though, it was fun holding down FTD through the first two heats. Had a long, lurid slide (Gary Lin would have been proud) on my final run, but still would have posted a 41.402 had I not clipped a cone. Would have loved a couple more shots at that course!
Rope-a-dope, Neil...rope-a-dope.

Also, I'd like to point out that we are addressing the the web issues including result-posting. Next year, there will be new system that will improve things significantly in many ways.
So, please be patient with us :)

In the meantime, what about results being posted here and other forums...or even the NCC mailist?

:D
gsober 11-04-2003, 12:47 PM very funny guys. it only took two of you for one good comment
Mpowered02 11-04-2003, 09:02 PM You a novice John?! I don't think so...
Me on the other hand...and it being my 1st auto-x...I AM a novice and it was definitely reflected by my times. They sizzzzucked! :D I don't think the timing equipment counted high enough to record my times...
I think I spent my 1st 3 runs just having a good time sliding the car around the turns (obviously not the fastest way around the course). On the 4th run, I actually tried to drive a little better and was going pretty good for the 1st half of the course, but totally forgot about the skidpad and pretty much blew that section. Doh! Oh well...better luck nextime....
When's the next one again? the 15th? Hmmm....gotta make sure i'm not working...
vjlax18 11-05-2003, 03:28 PM This is my first year, so I'd say I'm a novice.
