Air bag has been switched out to non air bag wheel but also I beleive remaing system is there. The air bag wheel makes it impossible to drive this thing quickly.
what does that mean?...if it has anymeaning...its in the car description in the link.....thanks
E30 M3s are NOT reliable daily drivers, they are very expensive to maintain and own. If you want reliability, do NOT get an E30 M3.

Mine has 180k on the original motor/tranny. Its got the same compression it did when they were new, so its possible that they can last as daily drivers, however i wouldnt recomend it. Its loud, hates to be driven below 4.5k rpm, and the suspension is sorta stiff (well when it was ok when it was stock, but mines not).
They dont cost too much to repair, unless you break somthing in the motor or if you damage the body. Other than that the parts dont cost a lot. They are relatively easy to work on as well.

Uhhhh, what? Stop spreading misinformation. These cars are very reliable as long as they haven't been neglected. If the car has had proper maintenance its whole life until now it would be a great purchase.
I've never had any problems with any of the 3 M3s that I've owned (spun rod being my fault).
Full maintenance is key.

What should someone expect to pay for one? I'm possibly looking at buying one next year to setup for auto-x and track, so interior isn't a key for me because it's either getting ripped out or replaced.

The 15k rule sorta is true I guess. Meaning that you can buy a good condition m3 for 15k, or buy one in less than perfect condition, spend a total amount of money adding up to 15k and getting a return on your "investment".
Mines for sale if you are interested, and would probably be perfect for someone who is looking for a track car. Dont know, just throwing that out there.:D
well since you threw it out there...
how much ? I'm looking for a track car

Do you have one?
I feel you have no idea what you are talking about. Yes, they are VERY reliable!! Just about EVERY problem I have ever seen on one is from lack of maintenance!
I've had mine for 9 years now. For the first 7 years it was totally problem free, all I ever did was general stuff. Then while out at the track, my crank gear lost some teeth and the engine didn't like it at 7500rpm's.
Other then that it has never let me down and has always been a great car! It was my daily driver for 5 years.
Yes, they are expensive to own, parts cost more then most BMW part, and generally 3x more then other E30 parts.
Get a nice one in good shape that was taken care of and you will have a blast. Get a cheap one that was abused and WATCH OUT!
