Just bought a 2002 that has been in strorage for 9yrs. It is in realy nice shape, aside from the flat tires and dust. I am not sure if I should try to bring it to life, or sell it and get a runnng car.

Ideas?

if its in really nice shape i would just drain and change all of the fluids, give it a tune up and put new tires on it and it should be set to go. i would keep it since it is in such nice shape as you say and would take little work to get it back to up and running.

i think you are a little confused here :) you can actually store a 2002 for 35 years, but why would you do that ? now if i can go back in time and get a new 2002 and bring it to the present, that would be a lot more interesting.

now for the real answer:
as for the 2002 that was stored for 9 years. Get some marvels mystery oil, put a few drops (a lot) into the spark plug holes, and rotate the motor by hand to lubricate the piston rings. Make sure to change the oil before that, deffinatly change the gas and prefferable transmission and diff fluids.

aftar all that is done, turn the key to on position so that all warning light are on and rotate the motor by hand untill the oil pressure is built up and the oil pressure light goes away. You can also do this by disconnecting the coil and just using the starter to rotate the crank. Do it for about 30 seconds and then give it a minut break. You don't want to overheat the starter.

good luck. also come to our site and use the messageboard to ask more questions. there is not much '02 traffic here.

Thank you for your intelignt reply. I did as you recomended, accept th e oil change. It will be changed after I tow it to my shop, and then I'll do all fluids. Anyhow, after I did as you recomendd, it startd up fine. Purrs like a kitten. Records show tranny rebuld right before storage, and new clutch, too! Other than anoilleak, and some minot lower panel rust spots, this seems to be a rel nice car. I'll keep you poste as I progress with making it streetwothy. on't worry, braes are on the agenda after fluids.

Well, now I'm in a pickle. Wifey wants a new house. I can't do anything with this car for awhile. I am not a patient man.
Therefore, I will entertain offers around $1900.00 for this car.
Please see listing in classifieds.

Korman and Ireland Engineering have Alpina buble flares. They are about $700 a set. You can have a cage made by some local roll cage shop or purchase a rol bar.cage from Autopower. There is one more company, but i cannot remember it's name. Both of them make cages for multiple cars. 2002 is just one of them. i believe both korman and ireland engineering can sell you one. Find the closest place since the shipping is on the truck.
