Just curious who is going. I know James (NoSoup4U) is going one day. I am going both days. I hope some of you guys show up too because I don't want to be there by myself on Sunday. :(

Let me know. Email me if you car going...maybe we can meet up and drive over there together.:dunno.

Besides, if my car breaks down...I might need someone to help push it home. :D

The SCCA autocross is on Sunday. I think a lot of us are going to be at that.

I may do both days Andy ... I DID sign up for the SCCA auto-x as well at Fed Ex and I've paid ...

But, if Saturday is really fun -- I'll do both days then.

Do you want to meet up and drive over together? Are you going via 270 there or 66 west Va?

Andy
10-17-2003, 11:01 AM
James, I was about to PM you. I BET you will end up going Sunday. Last time I went with you guys you and Jed had a GREAT TIME!!

Just remember, you can do an autoX anytime. And you will be waiting around most of the day to get....what....3....or 4 runs??

These driving events are getting harder to get into....and this is the event that I hear a lot of people talking about. Plus, it isn't really that expensive!!!

I am sure you won't have a hard time getting someone to take your place at the SCCA event.

You want to meet up where we met last time?? Where 270 merges onto 70???

Dude -- I am ALL about this type of driving -- I am going to do these type of drifts around the F1 355's, F40's and Enzo's. There is some sick action in that clip.

Sure -- we can meet up there ... what time?

I wish I could go. A friend of mine is going to be there with his black Boxster.

I've been to a Lamborghini Club event there and it was awesome. Haven't yet been to a FC one. Have fun guys.

I think a friend of mine is going. FoW said his car should be done and at the track. I might have to come down and try to sneak a couple of laps in the 355. See if you can't catch a ride with Chris if you make it down Nick.

Lamborghini? Oh the Other, Other Italian car maker.:dunno

The first time I did it was using my dad's 325i... but it didn't have traction control. I think he realized that it was because the car didn't have traction control so he bought me an E55 AMG.

I love going to the drift showoffzzzz... everybody see my RIEGER bodykit and HAMANN 24's and be like  waaaat! as I be driftin all along da walllzzzz. Driftin is the only pure form of motorsport... well dat an street racin'.

Oh yeah: my dad loves me more, and he can beat up your dad.

Ok, cool. You all will know who I am. My car is the FERRARI red Prelude. You might mistake it for an F40.......but you will know it's me you see me lapping all the other cars. :D

Well I had a damn fun time...and I didnt even run!

It was nice meeting you Andy, thanks for the use of your helmet. MUCH thanks to James, I had a helluva time both runs, especially the 2nd one. Not only did you teach me some good techniques about the track, but we got passed at speed by the 360 Challenge AND the F40. I saw you point and wondered, "Why is he pointing, noone's behind u-VRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOMMMMMMM!" 360 goes screaming up the hill. I can still hear that beautiful Ferrari V8 in my head! :love1

I must say that I really want to get out on that track, it was so much fun, and it looked like even more fun to drive. I think I hear next season calling my name. :D

Anyway, now onto some pictures! Hopefully, I wont kill BF too much, I dont know anywhere to host.

1st pic: The chicane, Porsche RS (930?), Some kind of Ferrari race car, Boxter, mean 6er, 360.

355 that rolled before I got there, looks like the cage did it's job. He actually hosed it off and took it back through tech inspection. I assume it failed because the next time I saw it was going back on the trailer.

Sorry the quality of these is so bad, my camera takes them in 1600x1280 but I had to gimp them down for BF.

Andy
10-18-2003, 07:30 PM
Mike, it was nice meeting you too. Thanks for coming out. I was VERY happy to see you and Saint show up. I had a GREAT time.

I say start with a few autoXs and work your way up.

THANKS for the pics man. I am not sure if James got any.

It was AWESOME hearing my instructor say, "Smooth........get on it...get on it" to force the guy ahead of me to pass.

The instructor I had for the 4th and 5th runs was REALLY cool. He REALLY encouraged me.

My car handled A LOT better than I expected. It was pretty flat.......and it is my OEM suspension with 164K miles on them. A few times I chose the wrong lines...and the car got LIGHT. That's a scary feeling.

:laugh It was VERY predictable.

I still have a lot of work ahead of me.....but man...tracking is SOOO much fun.

James, thanks for the ride. VERY impressive driving skills. I didn't know you got that good. Way to team.BAR dat SHYT....as Jed would say. :D

I learned A LOT today. I can't wait until tomorrow.
See you tomorrow James.

Also, if any of you guys want to come over...and not pay the admission.....just say you are on my tech team...and that you need to bring me a part. :D Hey...it might work.

Congrats to everyone that got to make a few laps around the track. Summit seems to be a very fun track in my eyes. Smooth is very fast around that course.

Any in car video Andy?

James, glad to hear you are getting fast. Hopefully I'll make it down early next year for a couple of events again. You guys should try to make it up to BeaveRun next year for a couple of events. It's a much faster track and traction is sick.

It was nice seeing you guys and giving you rides.

Regis -- what are you saying, that I was a slow-ass driver before??

VERY impressive driving skills. I didn't know you got that good.

What are you trying to say Andy -- that I was a slow-ass driver as well

I got some pretty good shots of you Andy ... in front of some 360 modena's :buttrock

Wait until I get a good suspension and a nice set of tires -- I should be able to go a little faster. My suspension is squeaking like crazy .. and bouncing up and down. I knew it was gone; but, this event did not help any.

j/k

Where were you Sunday?? I thought you were coming back. It was really fun yesterday. My instructor was really cool. He helped me a lot.

There was one mishap in the morning. A guy with a 91 white.....348 I believe it was.....went off the track at turn 9 during the first session.

Turn 3 still gives me a little trouble...so does turn 10...but i am getting better. I just can't make myself believe that I can take those turns faster. I am scared of losing it in those turns.

I was very pleased with my suspension. It was A LOT better than what I was expecting. I hope my new shocks and coilovers won't make the car unpredictable.

It was a great event. I am REALLY glad I did this one. I think this was the PERFECT one to do as a first event!! The guys there were REALLY cool.

My new opinion....AutoX is the handjob of Motorsports....IMO. Tracking was ALL I was expecting...AND MORE!!

These guys are my new RICH friends. We talked about you guys. We laughed a lot.....and then we called you guys poor. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. :D

NoSoup4U
10-20-2003, 11:47 AM
Sorry man, I thought you were a ricer.

Don't be jealous of my neon underglow body kit. You know you want one as well!

Yeah, don't think about going faster ... just worry about becoming smoother, you will AUTOMATICALLY go faster when you become smoother. If you try to "become" faster -- that's when crap hits the fan.

Yeah, out of turn 5 into the esses, my tires squeal like a mofo ...

Ferrari owners are just SICK ... they have to much money to know what to do with it ... $60K to them is nothing ...

I needed sleep on Sunday. I woke up at 5:00 a.m.; but, was to tired. I only got like 10 hours of sleep the entire last week. So, I decided to forego it.

I am signing up for Car Guys in November if you are interested ... last event of the year for me.

Then I will be able to take it to the streetzzzz where my car belongs ... screw this track crap ... why spend $350-600 for driving when I can use the beltway for FREE!!!

Let me know the details on the Car Guys DE. I am interested.

This is the best time of the year to do them.

Did you go to the SCCA autoX??

Great time there. I want to see the pics you took!!

Sounds good but not too sure if the car is up to snuff for anything more than a short event like an autox or drag race. Last time I ran in the Mercedes DE back in March, the tires were completely howling throughout the carousel. And there is definitely less tread than before.

Andy, although I loved the Car Guys event, I don't think I'm going to be able to make any more this year. I'm probably going down to Florida at the beginning of Oct. to see a "friend" and that doesn't leave me a lot of time for things to do at the restaurant. Lot's of changes here = very little time for fun.

I guarantee next year though, I'll be spending plenty of time on quite a few tracks.

Well sometimes the quick reply doesn't come across the way it does with smilies. I'm sorry James. I was wrong. You are not slow. You are fast. I am slow. By the way, how does the turbo work for you on the track? No issues as of yet?

You are not slow. You are fast. I am slow:D :stickoutt ;) I've been around Andy and the other MD/VA/DC people, they ooze sarcasm. Sorry for the confusion.

Seriously, I thought you were fast. I thought it was cool that you made it out there. I remember sitting and talking with you about the green M3/32? and why you wish you had just bought one afte the cost was totalled.

Yeah I went off into T1. I mean shit, we were there for two days and only one guy wrecked his car. I wasn't really trying to wreck mine, but I was pushing a little harder. Truth is, I'm not fast, never really claim to be.

Well, let me take my foot of my mouth and apologize. I took your last post completely wrong. Actually, you don't need to be modest Regis -- you are a hella fast driver. I can't imagine how fast you are now with more DE's under your belt. IIRC, the Summit Point one was your first DE and you were bumped up a run group immediately. Even though you went off, that was due to brake fade. I boiled my Super ATE brake fluid this past weekend -- which I thought was rather weird (brake flush about 3 months ago) and the pedal was definitely spongy going into turn 1 at 130 mph ...

I am rather a wimp when it comes to the track ... I do not want to crash or spin off ... so, I drive to what I feel comfortable with. I am not going to be the next Kimi .. so, I kind of enjoy just picking the line and working on "feeling" how the car reacts to when I do certain things ...

I mean, these skills will prove INVALUABLE on the STREETZZZ where I ultimately will end up ;) :alright

I just wish I could visit other tracks right now ... but, work sort of precludes that as of the moment -- hard to explain to my boss, yeah, I'm taking off friday and monday to go improve my "driving" skills ... lol ...

But -- yeah, I was being an ass in this thread and with my responses ...

Anyway, no problemo James. After I went back and looked, it did come across a bit edgy. Definately doesn't come across as sarcasm without the icons.

As far as the track goes, you are right, I can't get enough of it. I'd love to post some video of BeaveRun for you guys to see but I don't have a host at the moment. And you are correct, I do have the original bumper and I'm happy about that. Hopefully we'll all hook up next year. Not sure about the CG event upcoming, but I'm definately in this coming spring.
