That caused me some fits early on as well. I can see it fine though... How about this for a sig? Type the address of the .jpg you are using as sig and put the [ url ] [ /url ] tags on the ends. otherwise, just PM your Roadfly user name (not the password) and the title of your picture and I will try and hack it. It should be permanent. Avatar is done in the exact same way as signature, or you can upload it directly to BFC (no hosting at Roadfly) but the image needs to be tiny.
