Just got my 88 M3. It's black/black w/ 100k mi. Can't wait until tomorrow when I can pick up the temp plates and not be worried about getting pulled over for not having plates yet. :D

Sounds nice! Where did you find it from? What mods does it have?

Post pictures as soon as you can!

I found it in the newspaper from a private seller 30 minutes from my house. There's no mods to it. I'm not sure when I'll be getting a digi cam, but when I do I'll post up pics

If you don't mind, how much?

I know this question has been asked many times, but I've heard many different answers. From what I understand, E30 M3's are not that expensive to own if you have most of the tools and you know what you are doing. I've heard of a place in Maryland that has reasonable prices for parts..... I'm thinking about getting an E30 M3 or an E30 325 and modding it. Don't have a lot of cash so I don't want to get in over my head. Any suggestions?

Chris - I met a guy at the last Clemson Auto Cross that has an '88 or '89 M3. He got a good deal on his in florida and is tinkering with his also. His name is Sean, and the car is Black w/ a tan gut. If I remember correctly, he has Bilsteins on it and it's lowered a little.
How's the E36 doing?
Nick

I paid 8.5k for it. I got very lucky in finding my car though. If you're doing your own work it's not too expensive. An E30 325 shouldn't be too much of a problem on costs. The M3's parts are more expensive since it's a fairly rare car. As long as you do your own work it shouldn't be a problem though. Of course any cost is made up when you see people staring at your car :D

Well the previous owner went by the blue book value for what to sell it for. The car appeared in the paper right when I was looking for a new car. Once I had checked out the car I reserved it immediately. :) I don't think the guy even got a chance to talk to anyone else about the car.

Wow! Beautiful! She is georgous, really!

You are so lucky to have a eurospec car. That is stock. That just blows my mind! It looks beautiful. What are those sidemarker lights behind the front wheels?

I hate having these "square" looking license plates, you are very lucky to have beautiful ones that mold to the look of the car.

Again, great looking car!

Thanks Bry, I'm glad you like it :)
Those side marker lights are the indicators, it's the way it's done over here and in Europe(except Germany) We have them in the front wings like that, were u guys have then in the front and back bumper.
I was thinking of getting some clear ones on the side and the front too, what do you think?

Bry

I think clear ones really cleans up the look of a car. I would go for it!

I think Brilliantrot is just a little bit brighter than zinoberrot. The other color was not offered on e30's that I know of.

Cheers Bry! As I had never heard of the other two.
So hows the car going? Any near future plans?

The car is going great, I was just talking to Bavman about it.

I am currently installing a performance oil pan baffle, doing all the oil changes, spark plugs etc.

My problem right now is that my transmition is leaking in the back. I think it may be the output shaft seal, but I hope not, as it is a hard part to replace. I'm going to get under the car tomorrow and check. I've also been doing a lot of minor things.

My two big things that I am about to do is buy my cousins SS exhaust from him, and get some new shocks. The P.O. put on cheap, sloshy american shocks on and the car rolls like a minivan. I'm going to get some good bilstein sport or racing springs. I have pretty good roads here, and I won't mind the harsh ride.

How have you been with your car?

Yeah mines been going ok for a change, or should I say I haven't spent that much on it lately :laugh
But I need a new pair of back tyres( SO-3's on the way :D) as there pretty much on the wear marks.
Also found out that one of my high beams was smashed at the weekend so I have to change that this weekend which I bet is going to be fun.
Changed a couple of engine hoses as they was rather swollen, and when i looked inside one of them it was split through the first wall and the second was much better, so bit of a lucky escape there.
So nothing to much just little bits and pieces.

My gearbox leaks to from the back, I think it's the selector shaft seal and it is a pain in the ass. The bloke who used to look after my car, done it twice and it still leaks (one of the reasons I go somewhere else now!) So i will get my new place i use to have a go at it soon.

are you getting a Supersprint(SS?) as that is what I have on my car and I love it !

Bry
12-11-2001, 11:44 PM
I have the supersprint on my car, I just haven't paid my cousin for it yet :laugh It is an awesome exhaust, I love the tone, it's the perfect volume, and screams at higher rpm's. Supersprint is now making an all Stainless Steel "Racing" exhaust for the E30 M3.

Here is a pic of my SS:

supersprint looks great.....plus it yields the most HP gain of all exhausts for the E30 M3

Bry

The only problem with a high flowning exhaust is that you use the backpressure, so you lose some of the low down torque. That is all worth it for the sound though!
