View Full Version : RMC BMW CCA autocross 10/19
Don't forget to register (https://www.securepage001.com/rmc.securepage.com/autox_reg_form.htm) a week in advance (that means by this Sunday, October 12) for the Rocky Mountain Chapter BMW CCA (http://rmcbmwcca.org) October 19 Autocross (http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/AutoX/autocross.htm) at scenic Bandimere Speedway (http://bandimere.com).
Most of the classes' season trophies (http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/AutoX/AutoXResults/2003-09-27_points.htm) are still hanging by a thread. This event will decide who emerges victorious. Come to race or come to watch, it should be a great nail-biter of an afternoon.
tybmw 10-09-2003, 08:18 AM I'll be there anyone else?
Hey TyBMW, were you at the drive last week? I still dont know which username goes with who...
Im going to try to be at the auto-x, and a bunch of the guys at the meet were also planning on going. As long as I can get my suspension installed in time...
Spencer if you see this, I sent you an e-mail about parts.
Fraser 10-09-2003, 12:33 PM Damn you bastards and the BMWCCA!
Here I am hanging out with honda-boys at the SCCA events with no bimmer crew whatsoever.
Maybe I'll bail out on the world arena event and join you guys.
Seth, when is your stuff supposed to be here?
tybmw 10-09-2003, 12:43 PM seth it's me tyson the kid with spiked hair. Anyway fraser you should come up to the bmw cca event with the rest of the bmw crew.
DenverM3 10-09-2003, 01:21 PM I'm planning on being there.

A bunch of club members noticed they weren't getting much seat time at SCCA events. They ran a few BMW CCA events in the 2002 season with equipment rented from the SCCA, to prove the BMW club members had enough interest to support our own series. Last fall and winter they brought a proposal to the BMW club's chapter board. We invested in the equipment (trailer, cones, timing, etc.) to run a standalone operation, not dependent upon renting anything from anyone else.
An autocross series is the sort of thing a few individuals can't do on their own. It takes a focused leader, a solid group of dedicated workers, and a large number of participants. It takes financial and organizational backing. That all sounds like a car club!
You ought to try the October 19 BMW CCA autocross event (http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/AutoX/autocross.htm) at Bandimere (http://bandimere.com). You'll find a more relaxed, fun atmosphere than at the SCCA events, though still with plenty of competitive energy. The camaraderie and cooperation and support is excellent. You'll get at least six runs - three for practice and three for times. And you'll be running with other similar BMWs - always more fun than the "honda-boys" :D

frasier shox.com lied to me and told me their bilstein stuff would fit without an update kit, so... im probably going to buy the update kit from understeer (unless spencer comes through..) and mate that up with h&r race or sport springs and bilstein sports. then down the road ill trade my race/sport springs in for some coilovers. thats the plan so far anyways...i hope it comes in time! :ninja:
Fraser 10-09-2003, 09:40 PM Sounds like a good plan seth! I'm pretty happy with the H&R sports, although I wouldn't mind having 'em just a bit stiffer. Great for a daily driver, though.
Seems like most people will advise against the Race springs (you probably already know this), because they're not much stiffer than the sports, just a lot lower.
Don't worry about getting stuff in on time, after all, it's not gonna kill you to do an event on stock suspension- you'll just appreciate the new goodies even more.
Bob- I hear ya! That's one hell of an argument you got there. I'm just kicking myself for having recently renewing my SCCA membership instead of joining the BMWCCA. Guess I'll just have to shell out some more cash so I can start getting my ass kicked by bimmers instead of a bunch of front drivers.
I'll at least be out there on sunday, not sure about running or not as I'm waiting for some suspension junk to get to my house and the car still needs an alignment.
Driving to bandimere sounds a lot better than going to the Springs anyway.

You can join BMW CCA (http://bmwcca.org/whyjoin/whyfset.shtml) for only $35/year. That brings you the local newsletter, national magazine, preferred access (both price discount and priority registration) to local events, and discounts on parts & labor at local shops. I make up the $35.00 by February just in parts discounts on my winter projects.

I've gotten used to it :bawl

Might as well class your car with its current setup and register to run. Then if your goodies arrive and you get them installed in time, you can notify the organizers to slide you into the next class up if necessary.
Either way, I'll look forward to meeting you!
Grrrrrrr  Looks like i wont be able to drive in this event. Got stuck at work today and couldnt register. On a happier note, I think I'll have my suspension installed by then :) Anyone let me take their passenger seat for a couple runs? :D
aceves 10-13-2003, 12:50 AM I think you can still register.
Myviperisfaster 10-14-2003, 03:51 AM how much is it?
Elusive303 10-14-2003, 04:05 AM $40 for bmwcca members and 45 for non member, you should think about joining, its only $35 a year. You get 10-15% off parts from a lot of shops, a year of roundel(bmw magazine) and the motorsport report(local happenings with bmw car club).
tybmw 10-14-2003, 08:28 AM a good deal for sure
Myviperisfaster 10-14-2003, 04:12 PM I would join but I get a better discount than that on parts
Myviperisfaster 10-14-2003, 04:15 PM can we register there. And when does the event start?
tybmw 10-14-2003, 04:18 PM I belive that we can only register online. You have to be there by 8:00 I belive-
You can still register online (http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/AutoX/autocross.htm). According to the published information (http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/AutoX/AX_Next_Bandimere.htm) check-in closes at 8:30. You'll want to be there well in advance though, so you can walk the course and get yourself organized and relax before your run.
You can find lots of information at the club's web site (http://www.rmcbmwcca.org). If you look it up yourself, the answer will be more accurate and timely than asking here!

Fraser 10-16-2003, 11:16 AM Autosport Werks is just barely off of 36 at 120th- ty, we could meet you at the park N ride there and it might be easier.
Seth, can't have a ride with me, I'll be simply gawking just like you. *resists opportunity to go into rant regarding UPS and their shoddy service*
If anyone has a nice camera and needs someone to take pics, I'm there- I'll bring my Digi, but it's a real POS.
Safeway lot sounds good to me for the Boulder peeps.

You're welcome to ride with me any time I have an empty right seat, during the morning practice runs. Most of the other drivers will be happy to give you a ride too.

You might manage to get in as a walk-up registration, if there are any no-shows.
