So my crazy buddy Johnny has this '92 Pearl Audi S4 Quattro which hea treats like it is an '83 Chevette......I know, it's a tragedy. He claims that his old man is going to pop for a Benz, althought I'm trying to seer him to the GOOD German auto (sorry Armen, I'm not talking about your Jetta... :D) and he plans on keeping the Audi as a second car, mainly b/c it has nearly 200k miles and he has beat the CRAP out of it (not exaggerating, it's one of those 'daddy got me, so I don't take care of it' situations...) Me thinks this COULD turn into a decent dedicated track car.....anyone else care to comment???

Yeah, if it still runs under it's own power, dump it. I wouldn't even want to own one as a second car if it's been beat. WAY too much $$$ to keep it running at all, let alone to build it into a track car. For what it would cost to make it quick and reliable on the track, you could buy 2 really nice track-ready ITA or Spec RX-7s.

no, BUT... a spec miata can be made "legal" for about $1200... which isn't bad when you pick up a VERY good example for $5K.

A true "Spec Miata" would already have a hardtop... it's required in the Spec series.
