SilverStreak 11-13-2003, 05:54 PM John, what's the latest with the paint, seats, etc...?
jcsomerset 11-13-2003, 06:44 PM Took it out to the guys shop last week.
He started on it this week.. I should get a look at it tomorrow When I take the speaker pod covers out there for him..
He had a 2002 corvette that had been totalled from a front end hit, that he had bought and rebuilt for himself.. Looked showroom..
As soon as it's out, I'll have fresh pics and a fresh price.. :D
Hopefully only about 1-2 more weeks.... (call guido about those over due contracts Dave.. :biglaughb )
evlgt85 11-13-2003, 09:25 PM ARGH! Why aren't you local?!?!
Sigh.
SilverStreak 11-14-2003, 12:41 PM Skye, he ain't local to me, but I know a guy here (dasMafia) who will go to AL, pick it up, and deliver it just about anywhere in the US for a very small/reasonable fee....
Keep me posted, John.
It's not so much a collection issue on my end, as it's a "crap or get off the pot" issue with a new client deciding to take my services or leave them. We've been negotiating for months on a contract....
I have some new contracts, but not large enough to allow for a 3rd car yet...
SilverStreak 12-01-2003, 12:57 PM Any updates on the status of your 6er, John? Work done, new pricing, etc...?
jcsomerset 12-01-2003, 05:09 PM Car was ready Wednesday B4 t'giving, but due to travel schedules, couldn't get it last week. He doesn't like the speaker pod fix he did, so he's revising that, but car should be delivered by the end of this week for sure (the shop is 30 miles out of town, not interstate, so it's a trek to get there and back)
Work done = body and interior.
Paint spots (only 2 of any real interest) were fixed properly, the nose piece should have been completely repainted to match.
New Roundels all around (wheels, nose and trunk)
Good Looking set of comfort manual seats installed, W/ the front/back - seat bottom up/down still functional on the drivers side. Passenger will be completely manual.
Speaker pods repaired and reinstalled (these may not look Perfect, due to the description I was given, but they will look much better than the gaping parcel shelf holes that screamed "something's missing here" that were previously present)
I haven't seen the paint guy's bill yet - but I don't think it'll push the bottom line (esp for BFC members or Roadfly) beyond $4250
I'll probably ask around 5 for the general public.
The body should be perfect, interior on the very good side (dash cracks will be worst thing inside)
Pics of car will get posted here or definately linked later this week. (I still can't get file size low enough to post here - my own ignorance)
Then I'll actually put it "officially" on the market (read autotrader ad, etc.)
Dave - Is your new year shaping up to be a good one? :devillook
Do I need to plan a weekend drive to NJ? :evil2
SilverStreak 12-01-2003, 05:18 PM That sounds nice, man. And actually, 04 is looking good. I had to play collections officer with a new client, which did not thrill me, but I got some much needed revenue on the books for a nice closeout to 2003.
As things develop with my new client, 6 new jobs, I'll have a clearer picture. If I can get all 6 closed within 60-90 days as planned (we get a large chunk at the end of a search) I can literally send you a check and either come get it, or have das/Jer deliver it and send him an upfront check for his trouble...
jcsomerset 12-01-2003, 07:24 PM I'll definately E-mail you Pics later this week, perhaps first of next when we get it delivered back on this side of the world.
Good Luck on the work flow for the New Year Dave - If Mine comes out like I want it to, I'll be in the market for a new runner sometime early middle of next year, after a bit more work to the M6 of course.. :devillook
SilverStreak 12-01-2003, 07:39 PM Good luck to both of us, then! :buttrock
Dark Helmet 12-01-2003, 09:41 PM make that three!!! :D:D:D
... I'm learning to hate insurance companies, of course, it doesn't help that about 10% of my business is insurance, they could all live without me... DOH!
good to see updates! I've never been to 'bama!
Mojo325is 12-01-2003, 10:07 PM Been through Alabama twice......nice enough for Bear Bryant!
SilverStreak 12-02-2003, 01:31 AM Stay tuned, Jer.... you ready to install my turbo for me...? :D
Dark Helmet 12-02-2003, 09:26 PM we're ready to go, we just need the "go" signal and a project statement/work agreement... the master gearhead and his assistant are ready for surgery! :D
SilverStreak 12-03-2003, 09:24 AM Jer, what were your estimates for parts and labor, again? And cost for delivery, also?
Mr Project 12-03-2003, 09:40 AM JC, if you or Dave will e-mail me those pictures, I can re-size them so they can be posted on the forum if you want to share.

M30 Stage 1 non-intercooled: $3900
http://www.turbochargingdynamics.com/tcd_catal.htm
SilverStreak 12-03-2003, 10:02 AM How much more for the intercooler...? :D
Mr Project 12-03-2003, 10:37 AM From TCD, the intercooled kit is $5125 (see link above). It's a water/air, so that includes the intercooler, pump, hoses, etc.
SilverStreak 12-03-2003, 02:01 PM That's nothing compared to what my s/c kit cost for my Z3... How much to install it, Jer?
jcsomerset 12-03-2003, 02:21 PM Update - Car being delivered this afternoon, Pics either tomorrow or Friday depending on Lighting, it is of course, supposed to rain tomorrow. But maybe it'll hold off long enough to get some good pics.
Can I deliver car to TCD and take a "test run" in Sweeney's TWIN??
:devillook :devillook :evil2
Mr Project 12-03-2003, 05:15 PM TCD is in Suffield, CT, and charges $950 to install the intercooled kit...
Looks like they're about 220 miles and change up the road from you, Dave, if you would prefer the designers to install it rather than us garage monkeys.... bet we could do it cheaper, though.
jcsomerset 12-03-2003, 06:21 PM THe delivery is only fun for me if I get to ride in or Drive Sweeney's Twin turboed E24 - Sweeney doesn't get over here too much, at least not by that name, but he's in W/ TCD.
I'd deliver, if timing is right for everything (i.e. I can take the few days off of work and find a spare driver/rider for the M6 to follow me up...
SilverStreak 12-03-2003, 06:41 PM Huh? CT, Alabama? If John wants to drive it up to CT for me, that's cool.... :D
jcsomerset 12-03-2003, 07:07 PM DAve - If I drive it up to CT, I'd have to stop in NJ on the way back so I could go for a Ride in the Z3 W/ you... If the M6 followed me up - we could go for a run-a-bout town.... :devillook :D
Again - it'd depend on timing.. we may have to go the delivery route.... but hey, if/when it actually happens, we'll figure it all out....
Raining like all hell now - won't be able to do good paint inspection and pics til at least tomorrow.
Ooh - Both seats are manual, he thought he could get the motorized brackets on the D side to work for front/back operation, but something on the older manual seat blocked his success, so 2 manuals in there, no more heavy seat motor weight for you to worry about Dave.. (probably cut 50 lb's maybe a bit more off the overall weight of the car, not really sure, never weighed the manuals and didn't weigh the electric junkers that got tossed. )
Stay tuned -
SilverStreak 12-03-2003, 07:18 PM Manual seat is awesome, no complaints there.
I got some bad news on the Z3 today.... coolant leaks (possibly head gasket) and my clutch is toast (after 2 yrs and 10K miles)... :(
Mr Project 12-03-2003, 07:26 PM Dave, I can't believe the clutch lasted that long. :D Bummer on the coolant, though, hopefully it's relatively minor.
SilverStreak 12-04-2003, 09:32 AM We'll find out, hopefully it's something minor, if not, and I gotta open up the motor, well then we'll just have to make the most of it being open and do some things for more power, now won't we... :evil2
jcsomerset 12-04-2003, 12:54 PM Bummer about the Clutch and Coolant Dave - Keep us posted.
Still wet and nasty outside- pics will be tomorrow, cursory inspection of paint is it looks great - probably 9.0 - 9.5 out of a 10 - only way to get it better would be to totally strip and repaint... otherwise, beautiful!!!
Stay tuned -
SilverStreak 12-04-2003, 03:46 PM Cool, man! Whenever you get 'em, I wanna see 'em...
I'm not overly stressed at this point about the Z3. The clutch thing, we knew was coming, 10K miles was actually longer than I thought...
The coolant thing could be a few things, some very serious, others not so serious, but even if it's the worse case scenario, better the head gasket blew, than the internals...
jcsomerset 12-04-2003, 05:36 PM Yeah - the way you talk about clutches - and the track time - 10 K probably wasn't too bad..
True - When I sell the gray 6er, I've got to get timing chain tensioner and guides replaced in the M6 - a new S38 costs more than one of the big V12's... Gosh would that suck...
I'll e-mail you pics either tomorrow evening or Sat.. depending on weather.. (I don't get home til after dark, and I don't want to take dark shots again.. )
SilverStreak 12-04-2003, 05:57 PM Yeah, we're getting your snow/ice here tomorrow and Saturday....
Have a good night, dude!
jcsomerset 12-09-2003, 01:28 PM Ok - So I'm lazy Arse- Finally took pics in the daylight yesterday. Car is still dirty though...
Should be able to bring in and distribute some pics tomorrow,
Paint is not as perfect as I was hoping - Due to clearcoat he couldn't do as much as he or I wanted W/out total repaint, but paint still solid 9 out of 10. Accordingly - bottom line $4000; not $4250
Seats are in and nice and comfy - Almost make me want to put comforts in the M6 - but that'd just be sacrilege...
Been driving it for the last 3 days - Runs GREAT!!, makes me want to keep it... but alas - the M6 does have my heart.. and wallet for that matter.. :D
Just placed Ad in Auto trader asking 4800/OBO
Stay tuned.
SvenOdin 12-09-2003, 08:15 PM Sent you an e-mail. I'm looking for a 6'er:buttrock
jcsomerset 12-10-2003, 03:38 PM GRR  The AutoTrader ad doesn't show on the internet until it's published in the magazine.. which isn't until tomorrow.. and then the redneck I spoke with said it takes a couple of days after that... Yet I ENTERED THE INFORMATION on the INTERNET??? Go figure-
jcsomerset 12-11-2003, 10:42 AM Before I start, I have to thank Armen for resizing the pics you are all about to see. My ignorant Arse can't get stuff down that small.. So - THanks Armen.-
Disclaimer-These pics were taken on a dirty car. I still need to give her a good bath, inside and out...

SilverStreak 12-11-2003, 07:53 PM Thanks for all the pics, John, I got them!
SilverStreak 12-11-2003, 07:55 PM PS- Hotmail has it's limits, so I had to off load them for the others to come thru.... :laugh
jcsomerset 12-12-2003, 09:14 AM Yeah - No Biggie - THat's why I had to send 4 e-mails instead of 1 ::biglaughb :biglaughb
SilverStreak 12-23-2003, 02:20 AM John, Z3 goes in on Friday.
Tomorrow is my last working day of 2003, and I managed to close 2 deals in the last 3 business days.... :buttrock
I'll be off site much of 12/24-1/5, but I'll try to check in at some point during my break...
jcsomerset 12-23-2003, 10:09 AM Rockin' Dave - Keep me posted on the Z3...
I'd still consider roadtripping the car if the timing was right for me-(and maybe for a ride in the Z3.. heh heh or if TCD does it, his or sweeney's)
SilverStreak 12-23-2003, 11:05 AM I'll keep you posted... :D
