I saw this car on the way to work this morning all the way from buckhead to Jimmy Carter Blvd. up Peachtree Ind.:

X5 with a Dinan badge that read "Dinan X"
License Plate reads "OFFMKT"
Had a sticker in the back window that had 3 Asian charachters then below it "Alumni" ???
Huge, what looked like OEM Rims and red painted calipers (brembos? - I don't know)

I couldn't tell who ws driving it since the windows were tinted very dark.

Question 1: Anyone seen this car?
Question 2: Is it a real "Dinan X" - admittedly, I didn't know they made one.

Geordie has apparently seen it before, if I'm not mistaken.

As to its authenticity, :dunno

Yep, Anna and I saw it in Buckhead, and I actually have pics of it on her digital camera. I'd upload the pics, but I forgot to get her upload software. I'll get it up this weekend.

Great. We're all happy you don't have performance issues, but really... we don't need to know about these kinds of details.

I knew you would say that. :biglaughb

Oh yeah...the car.

It is, in fact a Dinan X. It is a 4.6is, all done up. It has 20" chrome HRE's. It has HUGE Brembos. It does not suck.

09-30-2003, 11:19 AM
Yeah, I noticed that it didn't suck. We were at a stop light and it tore off in front of me. We weren't racing mind you, but I could tell it was definitely fast as hell.

I suspect it would give most cars in our group more than they could handle in a straight-line race.

I kinda like the X5... It's growing on me. I might have to take a test drive some weekend when I'm in Athens.

No, I'm not thinging of getting rid of the 540...

No one's asking you to.

Anyways, *IF* possible, drive the 4.6is. That V-8 not only sounds good, but also packs a wallop!

If not, try to find a 4.4i. If all else fails, just drive the 3.0i. :az:

What do you guys have to drive over there Geordie?

Ooh! Ooh! Please come and waste my time by driving a car that you have no intentions of buying, simply because you "kinda" like it! I'll have nothing better to do anyway, since I'm on commission! ;)

I denote the hint of sarcasm but realize the crapiness of the situation. That's why I left last time, b/c you were busy. :)

You really don't have any X5s for test drives?

BimmerDawg
09-30-2003, 12:44 PM
Yep. I have quite a few, actually.

The real question is, do you have an 4.6is's available?

BimmerDawg

TheBimmerStore has a 4.6 for sale. I am sure they would let you drive it. $59K price tag though.......

It comes stock with 20's and 315/30's on the back!!!!

I sold one last month to a local doctor. He financed the entire amount and his payment was $1,500+ over 60 months!

Probably the way it looks on an E36 M3...ghey. ;)

Ali
10-01-2003, 01:19 PM
The e36 m3's flagship color was Dakar. If you see a yellow e36 you know its an m3. I think between estoril and dakar they are the best colors made for any car.

I own my fifth favorite... but it's steadily gaining on silver. :D

Steel Grey, of course, was not an option.

It's called delayed gratification, Ali. Work harder now, reap the benefits later.
