As the title states I picked up an 84 last weekend. The body is pristeen, but the paint and interior are showing its age.
Mechanically it has a few small problems, but overall is pretty solid.

Is there anyway to pull the codes out of the Motronic 1.0? The pumping gas pedal trick doesn't work with this year.

How much interchangability is there between the 5 and 7 series of the same vintage? There are a couple of 5's in the local "Pick and Pull" and the interior parts/switches, etc are in better shape than mine.
In fact somebody pulled the IC out of one already.

Here is a link to an online ETM to help with the electrical issues.

Thanks, I found the Big Coupe site and it has been very helpful. I have resolved several problems. I have a working speedometer(used IC for $20,) the OBC fuse was blown, new muffler, new vacuum hoses, and new fuel pressure regulator. It passed CA smog with flying colors. It still idles at 1100 RPM, but passing smog, eases the pressure to get it fixed.
Now the fun stuff to fix begins.
When I posted that I thought the Inspection light actually meant something. I have learned plenty since that post.

I have discovered almost everything is broken in some way, shape or form. But it is all piddly stuff the PO just never bothered to fix. The car runs and functions, but all the "nice to haves" don't work:mad:
I was a bit naive when I purchased, although it was an incredible price:D
No complaints, just having a good time

THe bits and pieces can be troublesome.. but the of the car is not compromised at all even if the little knob is broken off of the fresh air vent..

I've never fixed the cruise control on my 84, and most likely won't before I sell it.

When you've got the bugs worked out to your satisfaction..

COnsider a TCD turbocharger kit from www.turbochargingdynamics.com

it'll light your world on fire..

THat was my plan until I fell across the M

Hmmm, that does look interesting. I will have to see how the whole deal works out.
Slowly but surely I am getting things fixed.
