(I drive a AA StageIII turbo 95 M3 for those that don't know me).
I was cruising home from work last night(it was a bad day and the workload was just ridiculous to say the least...) I was merging onto I95 South towards Washington when I noticed a black Firebird coming up in the lane I was about to merge on. I didn't feel like pushing her, so I slowed down to let the guy pass me before I merged.
Surprisingly, the guy slowed down almost simultaneously, around the pace I was, nudging my rear fender enough so I couldn't get over...what is this guy's problem? So I slam on my brakes...
He goes past and I notice the WS6 badge on the car...(I'd had encounters with them before and have had absolutely no problem with them). This guy, however, was a different story...
I get behind him around 65mph and he's going about the same...so I switch over and pull even. Mind you, I haven't realized this guy has a blower on his car. It just seemed too loud to being with, but I wasn't expecting this.
Long story short, we went at it three times. From 65-140mph each time and he gained about a 1/4 car from the start, but I managed to pull a little over a fender on him to 140. Basically, I beat him, but not by much, maybe a foot or so. Also, quite possibly, the guy couldn't drive to the car's full potential...or he could, I don't know.
Guy seemed like a jerk, but after we ran, he gained "respect" for me...but boy was this guy fast and that blower was screaming...
Just something I've realized. I think the boasting about American Muscle cars is their low end-middle grunt...but if any drag racing enthusiasts have noticed, their trap speeds don't seem much. Some may have ETs in the 11s, yet trapping not too high. May seem impressive to some, certainly not me...
