View Full Version : Ran a modded WRX.
BrightRedOne 09-24-2003, 10:22 PM Had full exhaust and boost controller @ 16lbs he claims.
From a stop I would jump him out of the whole which surprised me either he's a shitty driver and he would start pulling strong as boost built but not at an astonishing rate. probably 4 cars from 0-110.
From a roll similar results get a quick jump and he would reel me and pass and continue to issue a few lengths on me. Overall was that impressed. Think if his car was stock (it was a wagon btw) it would of been real close. Wish I had the TA would of ass raped him. I'll be getting rid of the 325 soon but thought it faired pretty well against what should be a low 14 sec car.
He was prolly a shitty driver allright, or his mods made for horrible lag. A WRX should kill you easy. But hey, 325s are not slugs either. What year?
ArcaneParadise 09-24-2003, 10:41 PM :| Something about the WRX that just rubs me the wrong way. I have no problem with the STI or the 2.5 RS versions. It's just that WRX. I do not like it.

2003, and said he didn't launch hard cause the non-sti have shitty tranny's.
Excuses... his car maybe fast, but it's a drag when it could be faster, but isn't driven to its limit because of limitations in build quality.
Heck, my lowly Z3 2.8 is not fast, but I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more. No easy launches, no so-so braking. Hard. Everything. And when it will break, I'll be able to say that I had fun with it.

Yep. As soon as we were done running he popped his hood and aparaently he was having problems with his fuel regulator combuster exchanger compactiator :biglaughb :biglaughb .. No problems here and if there were any its under warranty.
yotone 09-24-2003, 11:26 PM i was really close to getting a WRX. i thank god my dad convinced me to get a BMW. he was like, why the heck do u need an all wheel drive car? u dont live in the mountains!!" i remeber this subaru broke down while me n my dad were standing around for sumthing and my dad, whos a pretty good mechanic popped the hood. after figuring out the guy had a fule pump problem he says looking at the 4 cylinder engine and said, " damn these engines are terrible!!!''
shmoo 09-25-2003, 07:47 AM Yes, he's a shitty driver! Most modded WRX (not the STI) here runs high 11s to low 12s!!!! Your TA would be like a stock civic running against the E36 M3!!!

This WRX smokes E46 M3's :awink:

0-60: 3.2-3.4 sec
1/4 mile: 11.8-12 sec @ 114-117 mph

This seems like an estimate of a «to be announced» kit. How can they gain a full second in the 0-60 between their stage 2 and 3? This is Porsche 959 territory. I'm not raising the BS flag, but unless I see an actual run... I'm skeptical

If you ever go to a strip, then you will very very if ever rarely see a WRX touching mid 12's much less high 11's. The TA ran 12.2's all day long bone stock with a 125 shot, injectors and a fuel pump. It didn't stay close to stock long. I wouldnt of been skirred.
sirtiger 09-25-2003, 11:27 AM yah, he musta been a really crappy driver... WRX are fast as hell.

Maybe you didnt see the mods on this car. All he had was exhaust and a boost controller. This should have most people running high 14's with a WRX. The WRX is ONLY FAST when a GOOD driver is driving. Otherwise, the car is a POS.

I think your right about it being an estimate. If you want to see a 9 second WRX, copy and paste this link, http://63.164.33.8/1esx/newesxindex.htm, it from easy street motorsports, which is in LA, and they have a 9 sec WRX, and can make one for you for a mere 28 grand. LOL. Just wanted to put this up so people know it is possible.
I know it is possible. When I see it, I'll believe it.

That link was so gay!
Hugo here is the REAL 9 second WRX, and yes 28,000 for this setup...

The guy doesn't know how to drive...;)
With his setup he must be putting down anywere from 200-215 WHP. This is enough to put a hurting on a 325. Like JeWRaCeR said, it is SLOW as hell if you are in the wrong gear or at low RPMs and smash it. A quick downshift is all you need to unleash the power...

MMJ4mil 09-26-2003, 09:58 PM i beat a stock wrx from a roll....

I think I 330 could take a stock WRX from a roll as long as it was the same transmission. auto vs auto stick vs stick
///M3Love 09-26-2003, 11:41 PM With half decent drivers on both sides, a 330i should definitely take a STOCK WRX from a roll. From a roll, my buddies lightly modded 328is took a STOCK WRX from a roll by about 1/2 in the quarter. Then I took the WRX by 1.5 cars in a 740i sport from a roll. From a roll the stock non-STI WRX is not very fast IMO. But from a stop, however a 5000rpm clutch drop from a standstill will give it a 1.8 sec 60ft. time that will be hard to catch up to.
And I can attest as mentioned earlier in this thread that a modded WRX can get very quick. For example, a co-worker at my bank has one with a K&N drop-in-filter, boost controller, and no-cats. Two weeks ago at the track in Cecil Cnty, MD he ran a 13.2@102mph. on 100Octane race gas. The trap may be low but a 13.2 will kill almost any non-turbo E36 M3.

what is it with this forum and your rolling starts?
last time i checked qtr miles are what counts.
p.s we have 206hp shared at 4 wheels, so after 3rd gear all the power is wasted on the front wheels... but fellas, after 3rd gear.... qtr mile is over ;)
we need a center diff lock ... please Mr Subaru :D

maybe he knew you were no match so he didnt bother launching it....
but in my books 4 car lenghts is a sizable margin :)
jigga 09-28-2003, 08:46 AM Nice run... With his setup, he should be trapping at 100mph in the 1/4mile, whixh should be enough to take out a 325ci.... Must have been a crappy driver
cosmo95m3 09-29-2003, 03:58 AM I ran a modded WRX on the e-way once too...it had an exhust thats all i could see....But ya i raped his ass like 4 cars...
Zoeb2s 09-29-2003, 04:42 PM I just raced an E46 325Ci friday night in my WRX. I am running stock boost, Catless...I didn't launch b/c I have raced 325's before and I know the results. he pulled on me for a second since I didnt launch, I caught up to him in no time at all...he might have been an auto though, I am not sure. all I kno is that at the top of 2nd I shut off and I was already way ahead of him...at the light he pulled up next to me and said " I had 3 people in my car man"
-Zoeb
also as for that Vishnu Car...its real, I was at vishnu this weekend when they were dyno tuning it....that car is FAST...
