Ah.........the famous (or should I say infamous) ACH #2. I've heard stories about this road. Very good for our Bimmers....not so good for our driving records (i.e. lot o' cops handing out lots o' tickets).

But yeah I'm down for it.

Trouble w/ cops? The only ones I see head the opposite direction as I kick back on a mellow Sunday drive, right Vishal? :D

Great for our Bimmers, NOT so great for the Mustang Cobra R or the Subbie 2.5 RS!!! And if you're just kicking back....RIGHT, kicking back Vishal....then it's no big deal. I might be in, depending on the exact date.

Yes I got an Private message from Richard. So where would you like to setup a meeting spot for people in the LA area (westside also) to then head up and meet the OC area people to head for the run?

Haven't really exercised my car in the longest time so I look forward to it.

Let me know.

hey joey... nice pics!

also if u can, post those pics in the general section @ DTMPower... im sure mariano would like to see them. :D

But great pics.... yesterday was too fun... i think i killed 3K off the life of my tires.... it was too great.

Hehe... the run was only half the fun... the other half is on the freeway ;)

Malibu... here i come! :)

Yeah. . .it was a pretty good run! :)

I have some pictures I will post later today.

jaramill

My first time on Angels Crest Highway.....wow! Definitely different than the Malibu Canyon runs.

Malibu is more like an auto-cross

ACH is more like being on the track. 3-5th gears and wide sweeping turns.

Malibu is 2-3rd gears and with constant downshifting/upshifting.

And I finally broke a record....147mph!!! I couldn't believe the needle just kept on going that high! Had we kept on going straight I could've hit 150mph!

It's funny because on the freeway to the start of the run...Mr. Vishal blew by me as I was doing 100mph. I mean like I was standing still!

This was a great run. Glad to see you made it Richard. Different crowd than at Wheelpower. So now you'll have to make it to the Malibu Run. Tighter and narrower course.

I need new tires!!! Plus I'm due for an oil change (AMSOIL 0W-30)

Hey Gio. . .wish I could have been at 147 with you guys. Although to get there, I would need my limiter removed and another mile or so. :)

Here's my baby cooling off AFTER she hit 147mph!! And behind her is the NEW Generation....E46 Carbon Black M3.

Of course i would make it.... i wouldn't have missed it for a lotta things.... It was fun...

2nd time on ACH and with a lil' more confidence... you gain a lot of confidence with each time you go on that run and familiarize yourself.... i'm gonna go down ACH again sometime soon... hehe it was jus' too much fun. :D

Gio.... it was great seein' ya again....

Also.... please keep me informed on the Malibu run... :)

Dude, just lemme know when you wanna go again and I'm sure I'd be down, has to be in the morning just when the sun comes out around 10:30 or so...it was so freakin beautiful it almost brought a tear to my eye, like I told some of you I was behind Rod and I swear I was in a Bmw commercial, it was heaven.....

Just going 140 with like 3 or 4 other people was one of the most exciting experiences of my life...

Hey Guys,
Glad everyone had a blast! And more importantly there were no incidents. I should have my pictures up tonight. I'm not sure when the next official run will be, but i was thinking we might have a mini-ACH run the day of Mariano's b-day. Anyone interested in a shortened version that morning, then over to Mariano's for some Libation?:D I was thinking we could do the last third of the run in reverse and then turn around and head back to Mariano's.

I didn't have a pasenger last time so i couldn't do any filming. Last time i tried to get some still pics on the freeway and picked the wrong time to be reaching over to get the camera as everyone passed by at 100+. By the way Vishal, you should have seen my view of everyone blasting by on the 210. I look up and all i see is BMWs in every lane cutting in and out of traffic as if they were autocross cones. But Mariano is going to do the filming this time.

O.K., I'm getting emails about replies to this and NOt looking at any other threads.....what time is the whole B-day/ACH thing starting this weekend? I was GONNA see about going to the SD BMWCCA AutoX in the morning, but I SUPPOSE I should head up and do this instead....don't really want to let anyone else drive my car, even if it IS an instructor. I might even be able to get Jason to come for this part too and film from a 2nd car!

nicholas
10-12-2001, 12:55 PM
I think having two camera would be very sweet. I have this grand idea of trying to get Speedvision style footage. SO that when the final video is released it will switch between in-car and outside footage for the same stretch of highway. Hopefully it will work out as good as it does in my mind!

jaramill
10-12-2001, 01:59 PM
Looks like I'll pass on Saturday's run or the SD Auto-x. Instead I signed up for something cooler!

The BMW CCA - LA Chapter needed 16 drivers to help out the Susan G. Kormen Breast Cancer Foundation. Drive for a Cure. So for every mile you drive, a sponsor will donate X amount of dollars. Well they have everything lined up except for drivers! So I signed up for it. That means I get to drive a NEW BMW of what ever model is available! :)

Oh man I can't believe I may drive a new M3, Z3, X5 or even a Z8! :) I will drive the cars from Palm Springs BMW to Santa Ana BMW. They'll feed us too.

So that's my plan for this Saturday.

Gio

V Shah
10-12-2001, 04:20 PM
Haha sorry to burst your bubble Gio, but I think the Korman cars are just regular 3 series or Z3s or X5 3.0s. And only a handful of the cars are stick. I was going to do the same thing up here in NorCal but it was during a weekday and I have class.

jaramill
10-12-2001, 05:23 PM
Well as long as it's stick that would be fine but even so, I'd love to drive a Z3 or an X5 for sure.

Last time i did the Komen drive it was at dodger stadium and i got to wring out a M roadster and a 750il. I got that M roadster so sideways! I had to keep from laughing when i gave them back the keys. And in the 750il i ended up racing someone in a 740i, he had me up to 70 then i got the advantage. Anyways, i think i am going to do the drive at Center BMW, but only if they have the new M3 or Mroadster. Although, i have heard that they don't bring the M cars anymore and you have to be 25 to drive them if they do have them. I really like going to the events when they set up cone tracks. I have won the fastest driver the past two i went to(one was the premier of the E46 and the other the X5). Got two little cones that saw BMW on them as Trophies.
