SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 07:07 AM What year 325i auto do you have, to keep up with an 88 LX 5.0???
(ps- how do you it was an '88, by the way?)
MGregski 09-23-2003, 07:59 AM  yah, more detail please.
EclipsorGreen 09-23-2003, 09:01 AM SilverStreak,

Chris
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 09:04 AM Yeah, I was just wondering what year the car was, not just the motor, etc...

Ahh, gotcha. Just trying to be helpful.
Chris
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 09:19 AM I know, Chris, thanks. :)
Nice run, but no matter how much dough you drop into your engine, it will still be a slushbox car... I don't get it.
I'm not flaming you, I just don't understand why someone, who's obviously an enthusiast, would enjoy modding an automatic car.
vjlax18 09-23-2003, 09:53 AM 88?
Ron17 09-23-2003, 09:58 AM Man, you OWNED that Mustang!!
MGregski 09-23-2003, 10:00 AM  Well some people like autos.
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 10:06 AM  at Ron, great pic!!! :D
sirtiger 09-23-2003, 11:04 AM haha...that is one funny pic, ron..
Why do so many bfc members diss autos? I agree that u lose some control and the powerloss.... but people still want to increase the fun factor in their cars... there can be a myriad reasons why people choose one (medical, work in their cars, heavy traffic, spouse, etc)...
euroracer325i 09-23-2003, 11:19 AM well i have a 92 325i 4 door with 225/45/ 17 modar6 rims in silver....well i know it was an 88 cuzz my cuzin has the same mustang in manual...now if it was manual he would of beat me but the mustang was an auto....oh yeah im goin to do a manual swap as well cuzz that auto trans will not handle the power im going to be investing in..when i bought the car i wanted auto so it would slow me down but didnt work..well i do have 15 points on my license with 5 points already deducted and had my license suspended 4 times already...ummm thast why i went for an auto but shit im changin that..
vjlax18 09-23-2003, 11:22 AM :pityfool:
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 11:23 AM The 87-91 LX 5.0 look identical on the outside, they got different wheels in 92, if I recall. Anyhow, just wondering, thought maybe you talked to the guy or knew him, etc...

How do you still have your license? Isn't there a 3 strike rule or something in your state?
You should be driving an Old Tercel until you get all the points deducted from your license and you learn to take it easy. At least in an old unsafe small car, you would be less likely to hurt someone else. :95

Because they are boring.

True, which is why I didn't flame the guy.
medical
A valid one.
work in their cars
coughhandsfreephonecough :D
heavy traffic
:dunno It can get annoying, but come on...
spouse
Oh hell no!!! It's already bad enough that we cant spend as much time as we'd like under our cars, we are not gonna get castrated any further by buying slushboxes for the missy.
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 12:00 PM My wife refuses to buy a car with an auto, she really enjoys working the stick... :devillook

And since you don't drag race, you wouldn't get it!:stickoutt
When you're running 9's (hell, even 10's) having a slushbox has it's advantages. Better/consistant launch, better control as both hands on the wheel, no distractions....etc.

SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 02:28 PM Sven, you are correct, when you're talking about BIG power cars purpose-built with tons of torque, not daily driver's with under 400 ft lbs... ;)
vjlax18 09-23-2003, 02:30 PM My 94 C4 was an auto, and it'd kill anything on the street at stop lights. Hold brake, hold gas, let the 285's do their magic:dunno
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 02:33 PM I don't doubt it, John. But take the comparable C4 with the stick, in the hands of a skilled drag racer, he'd edge you out...
vjlax18 09-23-2003, 02:36 PM I had grand sport fender stripes... no way anyone would beat me.:D
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 02:39 PM GS stripes on a 94? Was it at least Admiral Blue?
vjlax18 09-23-2003, 02:44 PM NOOOO, it was black with red fender stripes. Jus the 2 on the driver's side wheel well.
SilverStreak 09-23-2003, 02:51 PM I'll let you live, then... ;) :D
vjlax18 09-23-2003, 02:55 PM Now my mustang had a big yellow stripe down the side with the Saleen horse head in it. :D Of course, that was before the ricer's started with the graphics.
Ron17 09-23-2003, 02:57 PM Stupid DOHC stickers.

great, I'll make sure to stay off the sidewalks in that town. ;) lol..yo what town are you from? so i can come there and rip up tha streets..anyways good new i have replaced my record of 141 now to 146 on the highway..hahaha pretty impressive for an auto huh, plus there was a lot of wind..so im guessing less wind i woulda hit 150:alright
themadhatter 09-25-2003, 01:48 AM just be careful - seriously, it's fun as hell to do what you're talking about but take into consideration your surroundings.
I'm in Livingston, between West Orange & East Hanover. Exits 4-7 on Route 280. :D
if you want to have fun ripping up the road, run out to bavauto with us.
euroracer325i 09-25-2003, 01:51 AM oh yeah when and where is that? also i need to fix some oem suspension parts first and then slap on the H&R cupkit..hehe..oh yeha by the way i just did it tongiht and it was on RT 287 so nobody was really out and its a nice 3 lane highway...i only do speeds like that late at night...day time=no no no
themadhatter 09-25-2003, 01:57 AM daytime is the best time - route 287 north bound - ML55 test drive, 147mph. :evil2 gotta love Mercedes Benz of Morristown. :buttrock
for the show - it's in New Hampshire, www.bavauto.com October 5th. Huge car show/meet, you'll have fun.

euroracer325i 09-25-2003, 02:02 AM r u going? if so who u going with and when?
themadhatter 09-25-2003, 02:32 AM yeah I'm going - figure I'll run out the day before with M3crazy, Elbasha and possibly my brother.
it should be fun, you should go.

It'd be cheaper to buy a new car than change the tranny. Don't mod it 'til you look into it man, I'm serious.

Good call. Why marry someone if they can't handle the stick?:devillook
