I struggled all day with the course and with a 59.5x being my quickest run going through the first 5, I was running behind a mustang cobra in SM by half a second. He and I were battling it out for 2nd place in SM for the year. I couldn't decide where my shift points should be until my last run. With my gearing (3.38) I was running out of revs in 1st gear and after riding the rev limiter for most of my runs through the tight 180s, I decided a 1st-2nd-1st shift was something to try and I did it on my last run and it ended up being my quickest time. Here is a clip of my last run. You'll need quicktime and a fast connection to see it. As you can tell from my reaction at the finish I was pretty excited to see I had shaved almost 2.5 seconds off my previous best time. I'm still pretty excited about yesterday and finishing in the top 10 in pax out of 135 racers was also sweet.

This was the 2nd part of a local "Ultimate Street Car Challenge". The first part was drag racing on a 1/8 track and the second part is autoxing. Combine the times and we come up with the Ultimate Street Car. I ended up getting 3rd behind a turbo charged miata (1st place) and a highly modded c5 vette (2nd place) :) Not too shabby!

Awesome run :buttrock

Your auto-x course layout is significantly different from the ones in my area. In Florida, the courses are usually long and narrow. In the video it looks like your course is less linear, and also has more tight 180 turns.

Are you running R comps?

Our courses vary so much between events it makes it challenging every time out. I haven't seen two that were the same all season and I had never seen this many TIGHT 180's in my 4-5 years of racing! This was the very first track where I geared down to 1st gear! And I used it A LOT! Btw..I'm running 225x45 hoosiers on 17x7.5 forged split 5 spokes :)

Those synchro's must be loving those 20mph downshifts into first :)

Very nice run, good car control, ,maybe with a 3.73 you can keep it in second and shave some mroe time off without having to shift and spin your tires.

Congrats on the win :)

I love these vids. And the commentary at the end made me smile for about 5 minutes. Well done!

I couldn't tell from the camera's point of view, but did you hit a couple of cones in that run? I've never been auto-xing, do they penalize you for hitting cones? Just curious. :dunno

Each cone you hit is a 2 second penalty... and no I didn't hit any cones that run or all day which kind of tells me I need to push it harder! :)

Awesome vid! I havn't yet encountered a course with hard 180s like that one, but you definatly handled them well!

I had a great autox yesterday too, got 3rd in SM which is my best finish ever (still in my rookie season), and beat 6 guys on R comps while I was running S03s. :D
