the other day i was at a nissan dealership where my friend works so i could tell him about what happened the night before. well he has only seen my new car a few times since i got it 2 weeks ago, so he wanted to look at it again.

while we were looking at the car and checking out the engine and listening to the system i just installed in it (JL W7 12 in a homemade custom built box, polk momo components) a few of the guys he worked with wanted to check out my car too.

a few minutes later somebody with a lexus SC400 pulls up and notices a couple people checking out my car, and wanted to be the center of attention himself. so he decided to start loudmouthing about my car.

he was saying stupid sh!t like:
-your car is slow because i have a V8 and you only have a V6
(i told him that i did not b/c it is an inline 6 which is a big difference)
-i can take you anyday anywhere

s i told him lets go right now that there was a nice straightaway a 1/2 mile away and we can go from a roll or a dead stop. then he says i only race for money, so i told him $100. then he says how about a pink slip. i replied with "you put up $100, and i will put up my pink slip!"

he noticed i was noticed backing down and realized he was going to lose so he got scared. he then said i don't want to go fast because my car is expensive to fix. (i didn't know BMW was a cheap car to repair :dunno :awink:) then the gus friend started making fun of him and kept telling him to go race me.

finally i had enough of the B.S. so i told my friend i was leaving and was going to talk to him later. just after ipulled off the guy in the lexus decided to follow me down the road. it was a 1 lane road that turns into 2 lanes 1/2 mile down.

when the road became 2 lanes i moved over to the right lane and slowed down until he got on side of me. for some dumb reason he was still talking sh!t. so i told him to hit it. i let him take off for about a second then punched the gas because i was already in second gear. in no time flat i was moving passed the guy. after i put about 3 1/2 car lengths on him i let off and slowed down until he finally caught up.

as he pulled on side of me again he tried tell me that he barely had the gas half way so he could see what i had and after a fews seconds he finally went full throttle but still could not get me.:bs:

then he hit his gas again, but i didn't want to waste my time anymore or even my gas.

what an idiot, or maybe just ignorant!

No offense, but i think thats pretty stupid. I don't think that putting up your car is smart and it really only proves that you have UNSTOPABLE faith.

believe me, i know how to read people. been doing it for many years. i grw up selling cars and worked as a salesman in otherfelds for years. i knew he didn't want to race for anything other than "shits and giggles" but if i had thought that he would accept any wager i would never in a million years bet my car against anything, especially only $100.

My friend has a SC400. Those cars are meant for cruising in style not racing people. We have never raced per say, but my BMW ALWAYS pulls away from his car no matter what.

I'll give the SC400 this......best damn stock system I have ever heard. My friends is a 95 with the Nakamichi in it. That 12" hits HARD

I was considering the sc400 when I heard of a turbo kit from Australia that puts out 550 hp for about $6k.

Lol -- obviously you've never driven one. They are not as slow as you make them. If you drove your 325i and beat one, the driver was poor. I can take my friend's 330i up to about 100 mph. Plus, the SC400 came with two different engines, one at 250 and the other at 290. Even then, with the 250 engine I can still take my friend.

The Lexus is not a sports coupe -- it's "sporty" for Lexus; but, not in comparison to other vehicles. The car understeers like there is no tomorrow and you need a lot of steering input navigating corners. That said, it's a very nice car. It's a great car to drive when you don't feel like driving a manual.

I've never had problems with it ... runs like a champ ... and I suspect it could last 200K easily. Right now it only has 71K ... not bad for a SLOW A$$ 13 year old car.

SC400 isn't a sport car... I woudn't say its slow but can do ok in higher speeds. The auto and the weight also slows the car big time.

well if you know anything about BMW's Nosoup4u than youd know that a bmw can make it to 200k easily if you maintain it and yes its a big car and its heavy so thast what kills it...anyways i smoked one and thats all i have to say and i think ill be sticking to euros not japs

I don't think nosoup4u was trying to convert you to a japanese car, he was merely giving his input on the SC400 since many of us (including myself) have no experiance with the car.

as for the freshman mentality, why don't you reread what he typed in post 26 before you try and attack him.

we're glad that you were able to smoke one, perhaps you'll take the time later and tell us your story how one day you were able to smoke a lexus. we'd really like to hear it.

No it would not. Too much class for that. That driver was an obvious idiot. THe Lexus SC was a reason the 850 sold poorly. It was as fast and awesome tech for 35-40k initially in 1992 and reliable like no other. The car won Car of the Year, 10 best list, Best sports coupe in Automobile. It was chosen as having the best interior of any car. The car is a sports car with the manual.

This is the legendary 2JZ from the Supra. There are 400-900hp SC 300s around.
1995-1997 260 HP SC 400, SC 300 the same
1998-2000 290 HP SC 400, the manual is dropped in the SC 300
The SC 400 now does the 0-60 sprint in low to mid 6s

I just organized our SELOC meet at NOPI, we had 5 turbo IS 300s with us. The top one was 610hp, qtr mile in 11.4 with STREET TIRES. It is as reliable as stock, he drove from Washington D.C. There are also supercharged GS 400s and the top ones are TWIN TURBO GS 400s with 550hp to the wheels.

I am not trying to say Lexus is better at all. I am just educating those that do not know.

Overseas, the car is sold as the Soarer with a 2.5 liter I-6 turbo.:cool:

I still think they are dressed up toyotas - I'm sorry you don't agree. If it makes you feel any better, a bimmer in europe is as common as a ford taurus.

oh yeah, bimmers break down and I'd imagine that a broken down car is unreliable. ;)

Ooops. For some reason, I was thinking of the new SC430 hard top convertible.

I've seen a video of a SC400 with a Supra engine swap. That thing was crazy. He beat a Viper Venom 800. Pretty sick.

Actually you may be referring to the SC300 not SC400, The SC300 comes from the factory with the supra engine in it. Minus the twin turbos. Mod it and you can run with almost anything.
