Last night myself and a friend of mine Doug, along with my brother, went out looking for a run. Doug drives the cleanest 92 Civic hatchback you've ever seen, not to mention the full type R conversion (13.8 @ 101). It'll roll on a stock E36 M3 (seen it happen a few times). So we're rollin down 485 and i come up on a nasty sounding '70 Firebird. These have the round headlights and really large opening grill. Very clean, heavily modded. So i give him a rev and he downshifts and we go. I slammed my 2nd gear rev limiter (watching and listening to his car and not mine) so he pulled off on me a bit. I got back up and motioned i wanted to honk this one off. So on 3 we hit it, and for just a second hes right with me then i slowly start pulling away. Man i was pumped. This car sounded like it should run 10's, no bs. I was trippn'. So we get off on the same exit and wound up with the same location in mind, the Circut City parking lot. Weren't many cars there but he and I got to chat it up for a while. Come to find his setup was a 355 with some wicked heads, full bolt ons, 8 pt cage, big ass N2O plate system (no he didnt spray me) TH350 trans 3800 rpm stall and some 4.56  gears!! He told me he ran out of gear i was like no....reallly? :) His car is set up for 1/4 and 1/8 mi runs. His best 1/8 mi time was a 7.4 @ 94 mph (on motor) !! If we had gone off the line, it would not have been pretty, not at all. Just goes to show what Dave is always talking about, that runs off the line can be far far diffrent an much more tellling than roll ons. But he was a real nice guy, very sharp on cars. All in all, a very fun incident.
Oh and the bimmer story....Night before last had one of the 5.0 (i think?) X5 suvs give me a go at it from a light. First light we caugh he got me off guard (wasnt expecting a 5000 lb sport-ute to jump) and pulled me till i could get rolling. Second light we caugh i was ready, that went a good bit diffrent. But for an SUV, that joker rolled nuts. :buttrock Peace.
