That's right, you heard correctly! We're doing a softball game! :D So, you think you're all cool because you drive a BMW? Well, come show off your true coolness and athletic abilities (or lack thereof ;) ) at the first SE Regional Softball Game!

It's gonna be the Barrett Parkway Bombers (Aaron's team) versus the Hellrot Destroyers (My team)!!!

We'll meet at Aaron's (Ron17) place of employmet, Scientific Atlanta on Sugarloaf Parkway, just off of Hwy. 316 in Lawrenceville at 12:00 noon, mingle until 1:00, then start the game! Following the game, we'll cookout, eat, drink beer, and get into any other fun stuff that pops into our heads!

It doesn't matter how much God-given talent you have to display, this will be for fun, so come on out and have a blast! :redspot

Also...bring any and all softball equipment you have!

This will be a great time, because the field has bleachers, open areas to relax, and plenty of parking.

Please, we need a FIRM commitment from those expecting to play, because four-on-four softball simply wouldn't be too much fun! :stickoutt

Some points to consider...

1) If you have any softball equipment, please bring it (aside from softballs, because I have plenty). Any and all gloves, and any and all bats. I imagine there are SEVERAL people who will not have anything, so bring what you can. Borrow from friends, if necessary.

2) We're going to need a few grills. I don't have one. We need some people to volunteer to bring grills and charcoal/gas. Please let us know if you can fulfill this end.

3) Food/drink discretion will be left up to each individual person or group of people. If some want to go in with others, that's fine. It would just be too tricky to organize a huge "group purchase" of food, because inevitably, the purchaser gets stiffed on money (not on purpose... it just happens). So, this is bring your own food and bring your own drinks. Sharing encouraged, so work that out amongst yourselves.

4) I am almost certain we can use this field, but let me check. Once I've reserved it, I will post explicit directions to the field. There's a parking garage right next to the field, where everyone can park their cars.

5) There are nice, wide-open grassy areas along both sides of the field, as well as a sand volleyball court. This would be the perfect place for kids to roam, if anyone attending has concerns about that. Additionally, there are bleachers where spectators/family can sit and observe and where we can all eat. Don't let time away from the kids/wife/gf hamper you from attending... please bring them!! We'll make this a half-day affair with plenty to do.

6) This game is for fun. We'll treat it that way. The picking of the teams will be arbitrary, as well. However, to try and make it competitive, please list how you would rate your softball skills on a scale of 1-5. Be honest. We're just trying to divvy up the teams fairly, so we need some sort of gauge of how good people are.

7) If you say you're going to come, COME. Short of emergencies or last-minute business travel, please make it if you say you are coming. The nature of team sports is that you need the allotted amount to compete. If we have 22 signed up to play and 9 people pull out on Friday, Oct. 3rd (or just don't show), we're screwed. Please don't leave us high-and-dry.

If I've forgotten anything, please don't hesitate to speak up.

BTW, on our rating system:

1 = Never play softball and, frankly, not athletically-inclined.
2 = Little softball/baseball experience, but OK at sports.
3 = Little experience, but athletic; or, some experience, and OK.
4 = Experienced and pretty good, or some experience and really athletic.
5 = Extensive experience and good at it.

throwing... i've always been told i throw wrong but no one ever tells me HOW to throw so i guess throwing isn't a strength of mine (i always thought i threw fine though)

good idea... last time i used one of those things though it was malfunctioing and it would pitch random all over the place, and it would change speeds every time

Everyone, please take Carter's example and find players. Since we have people pulling out left and right, we're gonna need them. Also, borrow gloves and bring them. We'll be able to use all the equipment you can bring.

Also, if you don't mind dropping $15-25, you can buy a glove at Target or Walmart that'll get the job done. Everyone should have a glove, anyways, since we'll be doing the softball game once or twice a year. :D
