My dad is outta town for 3 weeks and i have a strange passion for cleaning cars :dunno so i've decided to do a 3-step plan to clean his car becuase he doesn't do it very often(actually i think the only time it gets cleaned is when I clean it but that doesn't happen much since i don't see him taht often.

so basically his car is filthy. bugs all over the front, the tires could be called 'powder coated' and so on.

Tommorow: Just wash the car with car wash, get the wheels clean... just your basic 30 minute wash. no wax or anything special

Next weekend: Full interior clean. Leather cleaner, vaccuum, dust. Quesiton: What is a good way to get, or at least lesson stains in the carpets without a steam cleaner? we have some REALLY good carpet cleaner called 'spot shot' so i'm thinking of just trying that but i dunno how it will do. Also during this time i'm going to do a basic engine clean (spray the engine with tire foam to clean it up a bit and vaccuum up and big particles that are easy to get)

2 weekends from now: Full exterior clean. Wash, Wax, Tire Foam, the works!

Products: Merguir's(sp?) - car wash, scratch x, gold class wax, and tire foam okay so everything i use is merguir...

edit: my wheel cleaner is eagle 1, not merguirs

Before pics, and just washing pics will be put up tommorow afternoonish.

Off topic question: we will also be doing my friends car, he has a bit of wheel rash on one of his wheels, is their anyway to minimize the wheel rash so its not so noticible (i mean its not so bad, only if you are like inspecting the wheels would you notice, but its still there)

:D

Well, I'd say at the very least, stop using gold class. Stuff has the durability of a glaze (about 2 weeks). If you want to stay with Meguiar's, goto either #26 or at least to their 3 step product (deep crystal) or if you want to go synthetic, their sealer #20.

As for the wheel rash, the only real way to fix it is to have the wheel refinished. Otherwise, you can fill it with body filler, shape it and paint it, but it'll flake off when they change the tires if it's close to the rim. Otherwise, you'll have to sand it smooth and paint it, but then it'll have to be rebalanced.

thanks for the post. this was my first wash using the gold class glaze we actually did it on my friends car since that step isn't for 2 more weeks and it turned out GREAT (his car is black so it looked really good) but we will see how long it lasts. i've been satisfied with all other of their products.

thanks for the info about the rash...

some before pictures, sorry they didn't turn out that great so you can't really get the true essence of how dirty the car is

inside, what you can't see is really dirty mats, few stains on the mats. the seats considering the 67k miles are in excellant condition. minimal wear on the outside of the driver seat. they will be treated with leather cleaner but nothing special.

i had a really awesome bucket but... well the picture pretty much explains

note to everyone: make sure your bucket isn't right in front of a wheel when you move your car :(

hey, that looks a little cleaner :D

didn't hose down engine. just brushed it off with this brush (took a long ass time to brush off all that dirty and shit). then used tire foam on the engine.
